A parent may waive this screening for their child if done so in writing. This is in accordance with the Arizona Statute A.R.S. 36-899.04. If you want to waive the screening for your child, please contact the Health Office at (520)696-6516 or Truiz@amphi.com for a copy of the waiver form before the screening date. The waiver form must have the student’s name, parent’s name, signed, dated and returned to the school Health Office prior to the above screening date
VISION SCREENING for Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1ST, 3rd, 5th GRADES, students who receive Special Education Services, and students new to the district will be Monday, October 16th. Reminder: Bring your glasses.
Amphitheater School District partners with the local Lion’s Club Vision Screening Team and their Better Vision/Brighter Future project here in Tucson and Oro Valley. The Lion’s Club and our school health team uses the new state of the art photo screeners which uses optical images of the eye to provide information regarding your child’s vision. This new device allows the health care team to refer children with vision problems and ensure our students to succeed in an academic environment.
If you would like to waive your child’s screening, you must do so in writing. Please contact the Health Office for the waiver form at Truiz@amphi.com or (520) 696- 6516.
Class DOJO Issues
Unfortunately we have been experiencing issues with accessing Class DOJO on district devices, which is forcing our staff to use personal devices to message from Class DOJO. This is limiting communication for some teachers. Please email directly with a teacher if you have not been able communicate with them through Class DOJO. If you are unsure which is the best way to communicate with your child's teacher you can email them to ask as well. Thank you for your understanding as we work to find a solution to our Class DOJO access problem.
SARSEF Road Map to a Rockin' Project
On October 18th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, Walker Elementary will be hosting a SARSEF Road Map to a Rockin' Project event for students and families. The event will provide more information about the SARSEF Fair, will provide guidance on developing a project, and will provide time for answering students' and parents' questions. See the flyer below for more information.
Early Release Wednesday
A reminder that every Wednesday will be early release for students. School will dismiss at 12:00pm.
Students Getting Home
We ask for your help with students getting home each day. Please be sure to communicate your child's schedule for going home to their classroom teacher. We ask that you try to keep it as consistent as possible and to not make last second changes unless absolutely necessary. If you do need to make a change, please call the office before 1:00pm and we will notify the teacher
If you are picking your child up in the car line or meeting them at the west gate/cafeteria door, please be sure to have a sign with their name, teacher, and grade on it. This will help us to get them called to you quicker.
College Gear Day
At Walker we promote college awareness for students as part of our AVID program. Therefore, every Friday will be College Gear Day. All students and staff are encouraged to wear their college gear and represent their favorite university.
Important Reminders
- Please do not exit and leave your car if you are using the car line to drop off or pick up your child.
- Please be sure that you communicate how your child will be going home each day. Please try to keep it as consistent as possible. We also ask that you do not change how a student will be getting home after 1:00pm. This will ensure that it can communicated in time to the classroom teacher.
- If you are picking your child up after school we ask that you have a sign in your car or that you carry a sign with your child's name (first name and last initial), grade, and teacher.
- A reminder that the shoulder along Roller Coaster is not Walker Elementary School property and it is illegal to park in the bike lanes and unsafe to park there. Please utilize the parking spaces within the Walker Elementary School parking lot if you would like to meet your child at the West Gate for dismissal.
