Building Healthy Communities: Support Grieving Families
Please join experienced Judi’s House grief counselors who will be hosting an educational workshop for parents, guardians, and adult community members who want to develop strategies for supporting grieving family and friends. Adults will walk away with ideas for how to best support others when they are grieving, including ideas of what to say and how to best offer support.
THROUGH YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL:
• Gain insights about Judi’s House as a resource in the community
• Describe grief and how it looks in youth of different ages
• Identify common grief reactions
• Have ideas for what to say and do to support bereaved family and friends

Virtual Webinar
This workshop will be offered in both English and Spanish.
Equity Review Survey
Dear McElwain families,
Recently, you received an email from the district updating you on the next phase of work in our strategic plan, ELEVATE. This includes an Equity Review and Blueprint 2032, the district’s long-range academic and facilities planning process.
As mentioned in that email, we are now seeking your input on the 360 School Culture Survey. This survey is open from now until Oct. 22. I strongly encourage you to share your thoughts and experiences on this survey, as your feedback will play a critical role in the district’s long-term plans. This survey will take 12-15 minutes to complete. If you have children at multiple schools, you only need to take the survey once.
Survey Link HERE
This survey explores the following five areas:
academic emphasis and excellence;
whole-student development (including the practices associated with strong citizenship formation such as an open classroom);
organizational coherence (the mission and practices align);
sense of belonging (communality); and
trust and support among adults across the school community.
The survey was designed by educational researchers at the Johns Hopkins University Institute for Education Policy, who will also analyze the results.
All responses are strictly confidential and will only be analyzed by researchers at JHU. School personnel will not have access to individual responses. No names, birthdates, addresses, or IP addresses, will be attached to any responses.
Thank you in advance for taking this important survey as we work together to continue to elevate the way we serve your child in every classroom, every day.
Respectfully,
Sara Olson
