From the Desk of Frances Weissenberger

Hi Quail Summit Parents,

During this time I want to make myself available to our families. I will be working at home planning for when we are all back together.

Please feel free to email me at fweissenberger@wvusd.k12.ca.us with your questions. If I don't have the answers, I will do my best to find them for you.

We are in this together and when we come out the other side I want you to know our Quail Summit staff will be here ready to step in and help your children catch up on lost learning.

Warmly,

Mrs. Weissenberger

Reading

This week we will focus on supporting student reading at home. I have partnered with a few colleagues to create some videos to model reading strategies for you and your children. When parents and children read together at home, it is usually for pleasure. At school, we use read-alouds and literature to guide critical thinking and teach supporting reading skills. This looks different across grade levels. Take a peek at these videos from some reinforcement or new strategies to help your children tackle daily reading.

Please join me on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:00 pm for our Facebook Live story time. If you have not done so yet, please join Quail Summit Facebook Group prior to March , as your friend request may need to be approved.

Grumpy Monkey

The hilarious #1 New York Times bestselling picture book about dealing with unexplained feelings...and the danger in suppressing them.

Jim the chimpanzee is in a terrible mood for no good reason. His friends can't understand it--how can he be in a bad mood when it's SUCH a beautiful day? They encourage him not to hunch, to smile, and to do things that make THEM happy. But Jim can't take all the advice...and has a BIT of a meltdown. Could it be that he just needs a day to feel grumpy?

Pleae note: One main change is that we now require entries to be mailed to the District office at 271 S Brea Canyon Rd., Walnut, CA 91789. Due to the District offices being closed to the public, we no longer allow entries to be dropped off.

Both contest deadlines will be postponed until all schools are back in session to give time for the entries to be mailed.
