A week of fundraising
We would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who has participated so far in our year's biggest fundraising event, GLOBE Trot, which is just a few days away. We appreciate every single gift, no matter the amount. As we aim to achieve 100% participation, we are asking you to make a gift that is meaningful to you and your family.
Your patience with the DoJiggy fundraiser system is greatly appreciated as we have encountered various glitches. Meghann Adams and Lorena Ferro Borges have been working diligently with the vendor to solve any issues in real time. We truly appreciate the GLOBE Trot team and volunteers and the positive impact they create in our school community. On the day of the Trot, please tell your children to give a big thank you to Meghann and Lorena at LC, Jaime Raymond at UC and any other volunteers they see, for making this such a great event!
Also, please check the information below for details of other upcoming events including extended basketball tryouts and next week's outdoor concert by our 7th/8th grade orchestras.
GLOBE Trot is this Friday!
Students should wear comfortable athletic clothing/spirit wear. Please also note that Friday will be a typical school day. If you wish to pick up your child early, please go through the normal check out procedure with the front desk.
If you have signed up to volunteer on Friday, you will receive an email today with more instructions on what you will be doing, where to meet, etc. Please remember that only parents who are signed up to volunteer are allowed to attend the event this year.
We have been experiencing some issues with our fundraising platform, DoJiggy, and we are working with them to update the student and class pages to reflect the donations received. We do see your donations on the back end of the platform, and we are working to manually create graphs to show you our fundraising progress. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Meghann Adams at madams@theglobeacademy.net for assistance.
Peace Week 2021
Lower Campus notes
Last week's Hispanic Heritage Month parade was a huge success. More photos from the event will be posted online in the coming days.
Masks: Always carry a spare. Ensure it's a good fit and covers both mouth and nose.
Parking: Avoid parking on Briarwillow Dr. It makes pedestrian crossing especially difficult.
Upper Campus notes
Concert by 7th and 8th grade orchestras: The 7th and 8th grade orchestras will be performing their first concert of the year in the UC parking lot at 6pm on Wednesday, Oct 27. Students should be dressed in their orchestra shirt and jeans and will need to be in the auditorium by 5:30pm to pick up and tune their instruments. If you would like to join us, please bring a camp chair or blanket to sit on. We would love to see you there!
Briarcliff Road crossing: We ask that parents of AM walkers escort your student(s) all the way to the crosswalk/traffic light and ensure they use the crossing safely. Please stay safe.
Breakfast: Served from 7:30am to 7:55am, students wishing to eat breakfast at school should arrive early enough to complete their meal within the allotted time.
GLOBE Sports roundup
Despite a hard fought and heartfelt semi-final soccer game on Tuesday evening, Ridgeview M.S. won the game by 4 goals to 3. We are so very proud of our GLOBE soccer team. They had a great season and finished 3rd overall.
We are pleased to announce our 'Athletes of the Week'. Congratulations to Gabriella Benjamin (volleyball) and Diego Bolivar-Rojas (soccer).
An extra session of boy's basketball tryouts is scheduled for Thursday, Oct 21, 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Everyone must register and have a physical on file to participate. Register here.
We are live streaming our inside sports. A link will be sent out via email to view at game time.

Communicating with GLOBE
- Weekly teacher emails: Every Friday, you will receive an email from each of your child's teachers, with details on what they're doing at school. Not receiving these? Please let us know. (You can of course email the teachers with any questions, too.)
- Remind text alerts: Remind is a service that we use to send time-sensitive alerts via text message. (There's also an app available.) If you haven't yet signed up for this, please do so by texting @globers to 81010 for whole school updates.
For Upper Campus messages, send a text message to 81010 with the message @ucgl
For Lower Campus messages, send a text message to 81010 with the message @lcgl
- GLOBE website: This is a go-to source for enduring information. (There's a search option in the top right corner to make it easier to find what you need.)
- GLOBE Facebook page: Don't use social media? No problem. While we know Facebook is useful for many, any critical information shared here will also be shared on other channels.
Board of Directors meetings
GLOBE's governing board comprises volunteers who lead committees focused on Academics, Communication, Development, Diversity, Facilities, Finance, and Strategic Planning; this year, a committee will also convene to renew GLOBE's charter. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please contact board chair Ryan Hudak.
