Congratulations to the 2023 Alaska National Blue Ribbon Schools!
The U.S. Department of Education recognized 353 schools across the nation as Blue Ribbon Schools. Three Alaska schools were chosen for the award due to their stellar academic performances.
Recipients of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award demonstrate effective and innovative teaching, dedication to high standards, community engagement, and appreciation for valuable teachers and staff.
The Alaskan awardees were:
· Bear Valley Elementary School of Anchorage School District
· Keet Gooshi Heen Elementary School of Sitka School District
· Fronteras Charter School of Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District
Photographs and descriptions of the 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools are available at: https://nationalblueribbonschools.ed.gov/awardwinners
Each state’s Department of Education may nominate schools for the National Blue Ribbon School award each year. Departments of Education nominate schools in their state for one of two categories: Exemplary High Performing or Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing. Fronteras is proud to be selected as an Exemplary High Performing school! We are so touched by all the thoughtful messages and gestures of appreciation we’ve received for the community!
School picture re-takes are Monday, October 30th. Please tell your chid(ren) if they are getting a re-take, so they know to come to the gym when their class is called. We have no way to know which students are getting re-takes, so please, please, please, tell your student.
Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!
Most Sincerely,
Mrs. Hutchins “Never jump in a pile of leaves with a wet sucker.” – Linus
UPCOMING EVENTS!
Middle School Fundraiser!
Dear Fronteras Families,
The 8th Grade Puerto Rico trip is back! To help cover the expense of the trip, we are hosting an Auction and Dinner fundraiser as a culmination of National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration 6-8 pm, Oct 13th in the Fronteras School Gym. We hope to have a successful event and then possibly make it an annual tradition for future travelers. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT. Please consider attending the event and/or if you or any friends or family work for a business that would be willing to donate items to our auction, please let me know! We are hoping to have tickets sold in advanced so we can better plan for the dinner.
