Community Service Opportunity
SEED has a great opportunity to engage our students to give back to the community during the month of December.
The executive director of Street Level Health Project has provided us the opportunity to engage our 4th & 5th grade students to part-take in helping to wrap gifts and set up tables for their annual event. This organization is also looking for our students to use their bilingual skills to speak to the guests as they are predominantly Spanish speaking.
The dates are: Wednesday, 12/16 and Friday, 12/18. The students and some parent volunteers would walk the students over at 2:45 pm & arriving around 3:15 pm. The community service would be for two hours to make decorations. On Saturday, 12/19, we would need more help and would like our students to continue their community service. Please let us know if you are open to engaging your students in this meaningful community service.
If you are interested, please email Beatrice, Yael Falicov at falicov@gmail.com or Lidia Leon at lidia.seed@gmail.com.

Monies for Classroom Libraries
Each teacher will receive 500 to order leveled books for your library. We encourage you to order high interest books for the levels where your library is not as complete, or leveled books to coordinate with your expeditions. Please fill a shopping cart at http://www.booksource.com/.
Need more books for your classroom library, here are community resources:
- In addition to books from the district, the East Bay Children's Book Project gives up to 50 books a week per teacher.
- Other possible ways to get books is Oakland's Temple Sinai's "People of the Book"
- And then there's always Donor's Choose
Thank you,
Emily
Hallway Passes

2-5 grade DO NOT NEED a buddy.
ASP during SLCs
We apologize for the inconvenience, but we will not be able to make any changes. The deadline for submission was 12/4.
Supply Requests
As you, the office staff is extremely busy with many other tasks so we ask for your patience as we will not be able to fulfill your request until January 2016.
New SEED Restrooms!
Principal from MCS would like for us to remind our students that they WILL NO LONGER be allowed to use the restrooms in front of the large yard. I ask that you kindly remind the children to use their new restrooms.
We are still trying to figure what will happen when the students are in the cafeteria and they are in need of a restroom. I personally believe that the children should be allowed to go to the restrooms facing the yard, but we are still in talks to come up with a solution that both site's can accept.
Don't forget to send your students with passes. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PASSES, PLEASE REQUEST THEM FROM THE OFFICE STAFF.
Students are expected to use the restrooms that are closer to their classroom. During lunch, all 1st-5th graders will use the new restrooms.

Learn Storm by Khan Academy
Khan Academy is running a light-touch and free learning challenge this winter/spring, and I am hoping that schools across our district will get involved.
From January 29th through April 1st, students in grades 3–12 can master math skills on khanacademy.org to earn rewards and recognition for themselves and their school. LearnStorm gives every student a way to succeed, no matter their level.
The challenge will run from January 29th to April 1st, and registrations are open now for teachers, parents, and students.
Here are some key details:
It’s very easy to get students going and requires no changes to the classroom
It strengthens Common Core math skills
It builds confidence and a Growth Mindset in every student
It recognizes school teams as well as individual students with real-life rewards
Please take a look at their introductory video: khanacademy.org/r/learnstormvideo
And we would like to encourage you and your teachers to sign up your classes today at LearnStorm2016.org.
