Welcome Back!!!

Boyd's Parent Newsletter

Dear Boyd Parents and Guardians

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2022 – 2023 school year! I hope you all are doing well and have had a relaxing and fun summer break! Our dedicated staff has worked tirelessly to finalize instructional schedules, class routines and expectations, and organize important relevant materials and supplies, all of which are designed to foster academic success. Additionally, we will continue placing an emphasis on the social and emotional learning needs of our students. We will work together to create a solid foundation for our students so that they have the opportunity to become self-directed learners, collaborative teammates, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens. We will continue to offer intervention services through Special Education, counseling sessions, and the implementation of Tier II and III intervention programs and strategies, as necessary.

Boyd’s outstanding teachers create the foundation for your child’s academic success. In addition, a large part of Boyd’s success is attributed to having an active and engaged PTA. Please consider joining PTA and becoming a partner with Boyd in providing the best possible educational environment for our students. More information on PTA membership and opportunities available to volunteer at Boyd will be provided at our Meet the Teacher night.

I look forward to the start of the new school year and to continuing our collaboration to provide your children with an effective and engaging educational experience. We will look to our families to be positive partners in this year’s journey. We understand the daily complexities and challenges our community continues to face at this time. The Boyd staff has made a priority of working together as a caring and compassionate learning community, tackling the challenges we all will face with professionalism, teamwork, compassion, and to always putting the students’ best interests at the center of our purpose. We hold our hands out to you in partnership, friendship, and goodwill. I wish you all a smooth start to this school year! Stay healthy, stay positive, and stay connected.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Griffin

School Supplies

Our school supply pack sale ended on 6/14. However, the supply lists are linked below.

Does your family need help obtaining school supplies? Please reach out to our CARE coordinator at lisa.hernandez@allenisd.org.

Reminders

  • FREE AND REDUCED Lunch forms - Since 2020, many families have received free breakfast and lunch through the Allen ISD student nutrition department through the Summer Seamless Option (SSO). However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has not extended waivers allowing for free breakfast and lunch meals for students enrolled at campuses that participate in the National School lunch program.

Due to this change in federal policy, Allen ISD families who want to qualify for a free or reduced-price meal will be required to complete an application for the 2022-2023 school year. The free and/or reduced-price meals application will be available for parents/guardians on the student nutrition webpage, www.allenisd.org/student nutrition.
  • ABSENCES- When your children returns from being absent, please remember to send excuse note to school within 3 days in order for absence to be excused and avoid truancy.
  • Arrival - Bethany Park Drive (the entrance to the main parking lot) is a two way road. Please do not use both lanes!
  • DISMISSAL- The only place a child should cross a street is at a crosswalk. In the past, we've had many students crossing Jupiter without using the crosswalk and it is a safety concern.
  • The tardy bell will ring at 7:50. Please make sure that your student is dropped off before that time since teachers will come in the building as soon as the bell rings, even if there are still cars in the car line.

Proof of Residency

Parent/Guardian,

Effective the 2022-2023 school year, Allen ISD will require annual proof of residency for each family. Families will upload proof of residency in the Back-to-School Forms via Skyward Family Access. Back to School forms will be available for families to complete beginning on Tuesday, July 26.

The following are accepted proof of residency documents saved as a JPEG or PDF file:

  • A copy of a current utility bill: electric, gas, or water (within 30 days) or,

  • A current lease agreement showing the date of occupancy, address of residence, signature of lessee and signature of lessor or,

  • If you have recently purchased a home, a copy of the Closing Disclosure form.

  • If you cannot locate a proof of residency document, or have difficulty uploading your document, please contact our campus office to discuss further options.

Once you have submitted your proof of residency, campus staff will verify it meets one of the requirements listed above. If it is not accepted, you will be contacted by our office.

Please note the Back-to-School Forms will not be complete until this documentation has been received. Students will not be placed on a class list or receive course schedules until Back-to-School Forms are completed, which includes proof of residency. Students who are unable to produce documentation to verify residency in the Allen ISD attendance zone may be subject to withdrawal.

We thank you for your partnership and commitment to your child’s education.
