Principal's Update

Harbor Springs Elementary School

Happy New Year

Harbor Springs Elementary Staff wishes you a happy and safe holiday break. We look forward to continued learning in the New Year!
The time has come to prepare for our elementary skiing lessons. The downhill skiing experience is part of our physical education curriculum and only provided in the second grade. This is an excellent opportunity for our kids to take part in a new outdoor activity that is so much a part of our area.

This year our lessons will be held at Nub's Nob. There is no cost to our students because Nub's Nob is generously donating their facilities, instructors, and the students' ski equipment.

Ms Carter's Class - January 6th and 7th

Ms Becks Class - January 13th and 14th

Ms Jackson's Class- January 20th and 21st

We Need Volunteers

You do not need to be a skier to help us.

Volunteers are welcome to help chaperone the bus ride, help students with equipment, or supervise a lesson / free ski. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the classroom teacher and send in an additional release for yourself. Please note any volunteer must be on our approved volunteer list for the 2014-15 school year. Please contact Mrs. Wagner for verification.

Volunteers rentals and ski passes are covered!

Congratulations Shay and Blackbird Teachers

I would like to take a minute and congratulate some of our elementary teachers who are going above and beyond this year.

In March Mrs. Bower, Ms. Hoggard, Mrs. Gorney, and Mrs. Hunt will be presenting at MACUL, a state wide technology conference. They will be sharing how they integrate technology into their curriculum.

Mr. Byma (music) recently received a $6,000 grant to purchase audio / video equipment that will allow us to record concerts, plays, and presentations. Students will also be able to recored individual practices for assessment and refinement.

Mr. Erdmann (5th) and Mrs. Jackson (2nd) received $100 mini grants to continue Learn Local initiatives at their campuses.

Blackbird elementary school was awarded a $500 donation from Blarney Castle to be used in their Science and Math programs.
