Needing to see the school counselor?
Students needing to access the counselor's office can submit a form from their chrome books by clicking on the apps button. This form comes only to the counselor's. 6th graders will learn how to use this app on Tuesday, August 27th when counselors meet with them through their ELA classrooms. You can also ask your teacher for help. If you can't locate the form you can also shoot your school counselor an email. Obviously if there is an emergency, students will be sent to the Counselors Office immediately. This is just a great way to help students stay in the classroom for instruction time .
Here are a few ways you can reach out to us in the FMS Counseling Office:
Mrs. Horstmeier works with students with a last name starting with an A-J and can be reached at shorstmeier@fulton58.org and Mrs. Burfield works with students with a last name starting with a K-Z and can be reached at cburfield@fulton58.org.
Ms. Jo is the Counseling Office secretary and can be reached at jwilliamson@fulton58.org.
Counseling Office phone number is 573-590-8208

Dr. Moebes
Dear FMS family,
It is hard to think about leaving the school that has become my teaching home. I am so proud to be a Hornet, and look forward to celebrating the Fulton community for years to come. My family is moving to Rolla this summer, and I will begin teaching at East Elementary in Waynesville R-VI Schools in the Fall. Seeing the support our community has given our youth has been heartwarming. I am so blessed to know that the tradition of #FultonProud will always keep our students feeling empowered and uplifted.
Check out the resources below for opportunities to experiment with music over the summer! We are fortunate to have TONS of great resources at our fingertips!
Please feel free to follow me on Twitter: @MoebesMusic
Mr. Thomas and Ms. Neudecker
We hope you are all doing well! If any of you would like lessons over the summer, please send Ms. Neudecker an email, and she'll get you set up! They will have to be online lessons, which stinks, but it's something!
8th GRADE: Information will be coming out soon about an online meeting we'll have regarding what to expect with marching band. Check your email weekly!
There are still lots of things to do on our COVID-19 resources page, but one opportunity that's really cool is SmartMusic. We talked a little about this in class when we last saw you guys. We now have an account! And it's free! There is a TON of music to play with. You can find some of our band tunes, (8th grade - "Voyage to the Edge of the World" is there!), good exercises to stay up with your instrument, and fun music to play.
Directions:
The class is called Fulton Music
Use this code to enroll: EQWL4-J24EH
ALL music on the site is free until June 30
Contact Ms. Neudecker if you have trouble enrolling!
Once you get enrolled, Mr. Thomas or I (Ms. Neudecker) have to may "accept" you. That should happen within 24 hours! Don't hesitate to send me an email, just as a reminder!
Please stay in touch! Send us pictures or videos of your practice time, practice room, family performances, whatever you do musically!
From Mr. Thomas: Thank you for a very fun year! I will miss all of you very much. For those of you that do not know yet, I will be moving to the Columbia School District and will be teaching Elementary Music. I am looking forward to this transition but I will definitely be missing the band world! All of you are terrific kids and have a bright future ahead of all of you!

News From (outside) The Art Room: Summer Edition
Unbelievable! That's a wrap of the school year? While I am glad we are wrapping up for the summer, I am a bit sad in the fact that we didn't get to properly say our farewells,Finish our time together, and especially not getting to bid our 8th graders farewell, and best of luck.
I really enjoyed this group of 8th graders this year and feel cheated a bit we didn’t get more time together. It has been wonderful getting to know them throughout the years and having a child of my own in this class makes it even more special to me. They are all such a great group of people and have such high hopes for them as they move on, and they will no doubt continue to be the caring passionate group I have come to know and love. I will miss them, and I am also excited to see what they do with the road ahead of them. I am sure we will see some great things from them in the future!
I also really enjoyed our sixth and seventh graders this year as well, and I am looking forward to seeing returning faces next year. I hope students will continue developing skills this summer, and have them share out any creating they do over the summer, I would love to see what they are doing, so feel free to email me!
Each year I link ideas of places to visit, and things to see that are art or creative locally, and beyond. This year I am not going to make that list. Since travel will most likely be down and not a top priority, and we will most likely continue taking precautions for ourselves, and our families, I figured I would just offer a few suggestions.
There are many resources online for students who want to continue with art, and creativity. I feel even though summer comes, and it is definitely a time to relax, and reflect, I believe keeping active is the key to a healthy body and mind. I know for myself, and my family, keeping a schedule is hard but essential for chasing away boredom, or going brain dead playing hours of video games. I am just as guilty as the kiddos, I like to occasionally shut down and tune out. Art doesn't have to be some grand elaborate plan. It can be an experiment. Just learning to control mediums like paint, or even sharpen up drawing skills. Having students use their hands to build or create something is a great way to get them involved.
Search “easy art projects for kids” on the internet or pinterest, and you might find a wide array of ideas you and your family can do together.
Have a drawing contest, or play pictionary. Whatever it is I think it is the perfect time to get back to family, and focus on the time we get together since we are still socially distancing, and cautiously approaching life. Creativity can be therapeutic and a way to connect to the world where we all feel a bit disconnected.
Activities: Create a back yard board game, Create a miniature board game. Draw or paint a portrait of each one of your family members, and create a frame. Explore ways to use recycles as art. Start a recycle bin. Play outside, go on a nature walk, and photograph things that you find beauty in. Create a recycled photo album and create an artistic photo album.
The world is full of plenty to do and sights to take in, sometimes we have to just slow down, get creative, and look around. .
Whatever endeavors or adventures you find yourself doing; if your students come across or create something extraordinary, please encourage them to share them out to me!
Hoping you have a safe and healthy summer!
Artfully Yours,
Mr Chapman

I sure miss seeing you all at school! I hope you're doing well while we're on this long break from school. I'd love to hear from you. What are you all up to? What are you reading? I'd love to have you send me a book review of any books you've read while on this break. If you want to email it to me, make sure it's a video, 2 minutes or less, and you don't have to show your face if you don't want to. I will share it on our FMS Facebook page and the Library Instagram page. If you do not want me to share it on social media please say that in your email.
