Spotlight on 2nd Grade!

Mrs. Dawdy's Class

Week of November 16-20

Hello Parents!

Please read the sections below to see what's going on in the life of our class!

Working with Words

The students will be focusing on “air” (such as stair), “ain” (such as rain) and “ail” (such as nail) sounds this week. There will be a spelling test on Friday. These words will be on the test: together, small, through, air, though.

Students will finish reading about pioneers this week. They will practice describing characters and events and identifying the central message. The students will take an end of unit assessment on Thursday.

The stars will review for their test this week. They will take the test on Tuesday. After that, they will use mental and manipulative strategies to add.

The students work on the Writing Process. They will plan, draft, revise, and will develop their Narratives. They will also work on describing character’s actions.

· The Lifeskill of the Week is Common Sense. Please talk to your student about what that means and how they can use Common Sense.

· Reading logs and Drops in the Bucket sheets (Math) are due Friday!

· Friday is Twin Day! Please help support STUCO Spirit Day and help your student dress up like a twin.

· This week is American Education Week. Let me know if you are interested in eating lunch with your student or volunteering.
