Wednesday Word Part 2
October 8, 2020
Dear Sunflower Families,
I apologize for two communications back to back but I did receive updates late last night regarding a school calendar change and information about food service during home days. I have also attached the copy of our school supply list that was sent out earlier this school year. Shannon Robbins, parent and school staff member, had a great idea of putting your iPad in a gallon baggie each day since there is also a full water bottle being transported. Thanks for the tip Shannon!
As our learning models survey closes today, we will go to work adding those students coming to our building for hybrid and removing those moving to distance learning (year remote). Once this is completed we will send you a reminder regarding which day your child will be attending. Be on the lookout for that information next week.
Also, I have received some questions about classrooms and recess so here are some specifics. Below is a picture of what our classrooms will look like with 6 feet of social distance. There will be no more than 15 students in a classroom. I have also included a picture of our recess zones. Each class will rotate zones on a daily basis. Each class will have their own recess equipment that will be sanitized after each use.
Communication to Parents From the Desk of Julie Boyle
- Students will be out of school on October 16 (pending BOE approval) and in school on October 23.This change was made to give students a full week when hybrid learning begins.
- Since we started the school year late and focused first on getting everyone familiar with the technology, checking in with school families, and building relationships, parents and guardians will note that there will not be as many items marked on our first-trimester progress reports. Our elementary schools continue to work on learning standards, what we expect students to know and be able to do, from the previous grade level. We are catching up after the Governor ordered all Kansas school buildings closed in mid-March in response to the pandemic. We appreciate your continued partnership as we work to support the achievement, wellbeing, and success of all students.
