Hello Shark Families,
I want to take a minute to welcome new families joining our Shark family this school year! To our returning families, we can't wait to see you again! Parenting during a pandemic is not easy. I am most excited about meeting your children or seeing children who are returning to us! We have missed having children in our building!
As you have been reading, every student will start school August 19--September 4 in a virtual learning environment. Our staff and I are completely committed to providing a quality learning experience for our students. To read more about our 3 weeks of virtual learning go to: http://www.katyisd.org/returntoschool/Documents/KatyISD_Virtual_Intermittent_Resource_Guide.pdf
Our school day is from 8:25-3:35.
During virtual learning, please know that Grab and Go lunches will be available starting Wednesday, August 19th. With a student ID, breakfast and lunch can be picked up at any of the designated campuses. The cost of lunches will be deducted from your child’s lunch account. If you are on a meal program, you will have to use the ID to pick up the lunch. If you need more information about Meal Pay of applying for the Meal program, please go to https://www.katyisdfoodservices.com/ for info or https://www.schoolcafe.com/katyisd to apply. Please see the campuses passing out breakfast and lunch: http://www.katyisd.org/returntoschool/Pages/ReturntoSchoolInformation.aspx#grabandgo.
Getting your child's teacher: Our district will notify parents of homeroom teachers Monday, August 17 via the Home Access Center. As a parent, the Home Access Center (HAC), is a place that you will utilize quite often during the 2020-21 school year. It is were you can get up-to-date grades, progress report grades, and report card grades. Feel free to login to the HAC by clicking the link: http://katyisd.org/Pages/Home-Access-Center.aspx.
All grade levels will be utilizing Canvas this year. If you are unfamiliar with Canvas, the District has created parent technology training opportunities.
We have scheduled a grab and go pick up for you on August 17th and 18th to come to the school to pick up technology, ID’s and grade level instructional materials.
Date: August 17, 2020-Monday Time: 3:00PM-8:00PM
Date: August 18, 2020-Tuesday Time: 9:00AM-2:00PM
The Grab & Go will be held in the area by our cafeteria/gym. All parents will remain in their cars when receiving the student bags. When pulling into the Grab & Go area please do the following:
Before pickup:
- On an 8 ½ x 11” sheet of paper, write in dark lettering the student(s) name and grade level.
- For example: Jane Doe 2nd
- Place this paper on the passenger side window of your vehicle –taped to the inside of the window until your truck has been loaded.
When you arrive at your campus:
- Stay in your car! This is VERY Important
- We must all observe social distancing and CDC guidelines
- Wear a mask
- Do not roll down your window.
- · Wave at your teachers. You cannot hug, fist-bump or get out of your car.
- Make sure the sheet of paper containing the Student Name is hanging on the inside of the passenger-side window and visible to the person standing outside of the building
- Wait in your vehicle while the grab & go bags assigned to your student is retrieved;
- If you drive a truck, roll down the passenger-side window just enough to make a small opening that the bag can be passed through.
- Pull forward so the next car can be served.
