A Message From Our Superintendent
Dear TVUSD Families:
As we enter the season of gratitude, I am particularly thankful for our TVUSD teachers, administrators, staff, parents/guardians, and Governing Board. This tremendous team of dedicated caregivers continues to prioritize the needs of our students, working day-in and day-out to support the social-emotional, academic, and physical needs of over 27,000 future leaders. The work to ensure that our students are fed, feel safe, arrive to and from school each day, engage in opportunities to connect them to their school, progress through the academic standards expected of their ages, and most importantly, develop into compassionate, collaborative, critical thinkers is a true calling. I would also like to take a moment to show our tremendous gratitude for our parents, siblings, extended families and community members. Your tireless devotion to working collaboratively with our schools and supporting your students at home is paramount to their success. Whether you are a parent, teacher, principal, or support staff, you have dedicated your lives to supporting children, and for that, we are extremely grateful. TVUSD could not provide the programs, experiences, or stepping stones for children without you!
Our students also deserve recognition for their tireless efforts to learn and grow, even throughout a pandemic. Like us, their worlds were turned upside-down in March 2020 and they are still recovering. Their work to excel academically while rebuilding socially are witnessed daily in our classrooms and on our campuses. Each day, we are impressed with their grit and determination. Each month, I have the honor of attending the Student of the Month ceremony, a program founded in 1993 to honor students for their character, integrity, love of learning, involvement, athletics, and community service. These students never cease to amaze us, as their stories of perseverance and service touch our hearts. During this month of giving thanks, we honor ALL of our students, as they are the reason we do what we do and give us hope for our future.
We are excited to highlight two new things in TVUSD within this newsletter. The first is our Home Instead Innovation Academy (HIIA), where over 650 students in grades TK-8 are now thriving under the leadership of Principal Sandy McKay and her amazing staff. This program provides options for students to learn in an entirely online venue or visit campus daily for electives, all while providing the rigorous and caring curriculum and high quality teaching that TVUSD is known for. We are also proud to introduce Dr. Tu Price in this newsletter, as we have recently welcomed him to TVUSD as our new Coordinator of Equity, Access, & Inclusion. I hope you enjoy learning more about Dr. Price and HIIA.
With gratitude,
Jodi McClay, Ed.D.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome to TVUSD. I have had the opportunity thus far to have initial visits at all TVUSD school sites, to discuss campus needs pertaining to equity, access, and inclusion. I'm excited to continue this work with representatives from each school to structure our systems to support all scholars across the district. It has been great building relationships with site leaders and identifying EAI work currently existing at school sites. I look forward to meeting more site staff, students, parents, family, and community members as we work collaboratively in support of equitable opportunities for all TVUSD students.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that the City of Temecula is acknowledging Native American Student Clubs from Great Oak High School for the city's Native American Heritage Month proclamation to be issued at the November 9th City Council meeting at 7pm. At the proclamation the student clubs will receive a signed proclamation by the Mayor and an opportunity to celebrate Native American Heritage Month, which is commemorated nationally in the month of November. Shout out to our Native American Student Clubs at GOHS and all Native American students, family, and community members throughout TVUSD.
