Big Group Den Day - March 13, 2024
The Basics:
1. Everyone attends!
2. Wednesday, March 13, 2:30-3:15 pm.
3. You can wear jeans on Den Days with your den shirt or den color if you don't have a shirt.
4. Please share the load in supervision....actively working to manage behaviors and using the time to engage with kids.
The Reason:
- It's a chance to build relationships with kids and adults.
- It's one more place for kids to belong.
- Kids learn how to handle friendly competition...to win and lose well!
- Provide opportunities for student leadership.
- Reinforce positive behaviors.
- Have fun!
Locations:
At 2:30 pm, please come to the gym!
Students will sit in their designated den spaces which will be in the middle two sections. The den box and flag will designate each section.
Set-Up (Den Committee Info)
Miss Jessi will run Music.
The Plan:
leave the two top bleachers empty, except for the flag person
- flag wavers are chosen by den leaders
- cheer appropriately, no booing another den
- sit with your den buddies, if asked to by den leaders
- practice good sportsmanship & be happy when others do well
- even when we are excited, we have to follow our school expectations
- you can earn a ticket to spin by making great choices during den day

*Den Games: Hanging with Your Peeps!
Kindergarten: Grab the Peep
2 kids per den;
Students sit across from each other to play Head, Shoulder, Knees, Peep! Students who grab the peep first win! Compete until one den wins.
1-2 grade: Pass the Peep
2 First Graders & 2 Second Graders from each den;
One student carries a peep on a spoon in the mouth to the other side, relay back & forth with other students from the den.
3-4 grade: Catapult a peep
2 Third Graders & 2 Fourth Graders from each den;
Students get spoons, catapult supplies and peeps. Take turns trying to land peep in buckets with various points per bucket.
5-6 grade: Peeps on the Brain
2 Fifth Graders and 2 Sixth Graders per den;
One student puts on a shower cap and den leader covers it with shaving cream. Partner tosses peeps and tries to get them to stick on their head. Most peeps wins.
*Points will be awarded for each game:
1st - 20 points
2nd - 15 points
3rd - 10 points
4th - 5 points
*Dance Party!
*Tickets to Spin - Den leaders will award tickets to spin to students who have made excellent choices during den day. Students get the big portion of the ticket, tear off the stub portion and give it to DeLinda. We will spin on Friday. Please have a den leader ready to share why the ticket winners was selected. Thank you!

Leader Notes:
1. Adult expectations:
- Adults should be interacting with kids, not only other adults.
- Adults should participate and have fun!
- There should be no personal phone use, except for using as a camera.
- All adults should be helping with the behavior management of the den.
2. Please remember to choose 2 students who earn a Ticket to Spin! At morning meeting, please plan to have den leader(s) come up and tell the reason why the students were selected. Den points will be added to 4th quarter.
