Howard Middle Needs Your Help!
Howard Middle School is one of three schools in the state competing for a chance to win $60,000 for their school. They are asking for our support in voting each day Jan. 21-25 for Howard Middle’s video in the Follett Challenge.
As a district, let’s help support one of our own. I still remember the overwhelming response in 2014 when Central High’s Ronnita Whipple needed votes in the national Duck brand Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest. Let’s help Howard Middle the same way we helped Ronnita!
Here are a few easy ways to help us win $60,000:
- Visit www.follettchallenge.com to vote once per day beginning January 21 at 9 am until January 25th
- Share our posts on social media
- Post the attached flyer in your local business, church, school, etc.
- Remind people to vote daily
ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE . . . CHECK IT OUT!
Base tours are offered to schools and community groups. Tours are available for groups high school age and older. Due to the size of the facilities being toured, group sizes are limited to no more than 40 people but require a minimum group size of at least 12 people.
To request a tour fill out the tour request form and e-mail to Community & Public Outreach Specialists. Itineraries are individually planned based on each group's requirements. Tours are conducted Monday through Friday only during the business day.
A minimum of 60 days notice is required for all tours and requests are taken on a first come, first served basis and schedules fill up quickly. You can contact the office to check the availability of a specific date but a written request is required to schedule the tour.
Speakers' Bureau
If you are looking for a person from Robins AFB (either military or civilian) to address your group at a local community event, please fill out the speaker request form and e-mail to Community & Public Outreach Specialists.
A minimum of 30 days notice is required for speakers and the office reserves the right to cancel requests due to real world events. The request has not been accepted until you receive confirmation from the office.
Please also contact LISA T. HAM, Community & Public Outreach - Robins Public Affairs at 478-222-0808 or lisa.ham@us.af.mil if further information is needed. See forms attached below.
New Georgia Project Voter Education, Etiquette, and Registration Drives
Mr. DeMarcus Beckham has reached out and offered to conduct voter registration drives & voter education/etiquette talks in all Bibb County Public Schools. Mr. Beckham manages The New Georgia Project (Macon), which is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, civic engagement organization. This organization is dedicated to growing political engagement among communities through voter education and voter registration drives. Last year they conducted many successful voter registration drives at local Universities & Colleges, High schools, community events, and churches which resulted in getting over 7,000 individuals registered or we registered. These drives could possibly take place during the student lunch periods, any after-school programs, or school-sanctioned athletic events.
Many of Bibb Co. students are apart of the youth in the United States who are underrepresented in the registered and voting electorate. In recent elections, U.S. citizens 18- to 29-years old were registered to vote at a rate 10 percentage points lower than the general voting-eligible population. In the 2008 general election, U.S. citizens aged 18 to 29 turned out to vote at a rate 13 percentage points lower than the general voting-eligible population. And to get into Bibb County schools and talk to the students(ages of 17.5 and 18) about their voices and votes and how they matter would be a great service.
Mr. Beckham has a group of well-trained, energetic, staff members who would be happy to come to your school later this month. They want to bring change to your community and our state starting with our young adults. Please contact Mr. Beckham via email or phone, so we can set up some dates and times to help make this movement possible for 2019! Also if you have any student groups that would like to participate with any drives they will come and set them up.

Instructional Resource....Top 10 Quiz Makers for Teachers and Educators
Quiz makers enable teachers to create assessments quickly and easily. They take the guesswork out of formatting and reduce the risk of errors. Online quiz makers also allow the teacher to create an answer sheet at the same time. Some HTML5 quiz makers are built in order to develop online content and may even grade the questions for you, whilst others generate a printable version.
Online quizzes can be enjoyable for students to take and are more closely aligned with the type of assessment used at tertiary institutions and places of work. Feedback is often immediate, enhancing the learning experience. They are also great for the environment because they save on paper.
