How Do I Log On For Specials?
First check this newsletter or with your homeroom teacher to see if your special for that day will be meeting live. You can find if they are meeting live on the newsletter each week. If they are meeting live, then you can find the channel by clicking the meeting link in the schedule linked above. Click on your childs grade level above, find their homeroom teacher schedule, and click the "Join Teams Meeting" next to the Special you have that day. Students should follow the directions given to them by their specials teacher on how to turn in the assignment. If a student forgets, you can often find the directions here on the newsletter under the specials teacher section.

Music with Ms. Astrop
I hope that everyone enjoyed another week of school. By now all students should have a Quaver account to complete all Music assignments. If not, look below for directions on how to set up your account and for class codes. If you have not completed the assignment from last week, make sure to follow the directions in the assignments tab on Quaver to complete the assignment.
This Week In Music K-5
All students should report to class on time, bring something they can use as a instrument and ready to learn. If you are a face to face student, you should only bring your device with you to class. An instrument will be provided to all face to face students. Students will continue to work on rhythm and how it is different from beat.
Remember if you miss the live lesson, you can find the lesson and activity in the "Assignments" tab of your Quaver account. If you have any questions for me you can email me at astropan@fultonschools.org. If you would like to schedule a conference or meeting with me, Click Here to schedule a day and time.
We also need your help. If you have or can find paper towels, gloves, and isopropyl alcohol please help the music department by donating any of these items to us. We use these products everyday to clean instruments so that students can continue to play and have fun.

What is coding?
Coding is the use number and letter combinations to translate information. As we will not dive deep into what is called line coding, we will focus more on the beginner platform using Block coding. In block coding the “block” have different commands and input spaces and when we use them the combination of commands will perform a task. Students must be able to critically think about what happens as a result of each command and if it is incorrect; they must be able to problem solve to fix it.
Many different applications from gaming and robotic to website and programming use coding as a base. During this unit we will explorer some of these.
Benefits of Coding
Learning coding empowers you to do many things you wouldn’t otherwise be able to do. These things include hand-crafting your own websites, becoming a career coder or even starting a technology business. Most importantly, you’ll be able to understand the technology shaping your world. Coding is also a good learning platform for any age learner. The cause and effect sequence is very good in most problem solving / inquiry activities.
Lesson Description
In this unit we will begin to learn about coding and different ways we can use it to solve our problems. This week’s lessons will be LIVE. Students will need to login during their designated specials time. We will discuss setting up accounts and after that the assignments will be posted. Students must also remember to go back to Teams and click (Turn In) or (Turn In Late) so that the assignment can be seen and graded.

Notes from Mr. D.
If you are in need of help, outside of your normal specials time, please make sure that you contact me. We need 100% participation on each of these modules and assignments. When you have done the lesson for the week, make SURE that you go back to Teams and TURN IN. Many people are forgetting that and I am unsure if you have completed the assignments. All assignments are due by the Sunday following class and will be submitted late and graded as such.

This week in P.E....
Can you believe it's already November?! While this school year is far from our normal school years, it is flying by! We hope you all had a great Halloween and have enjoyed your candy! Please remember to keep your teeth clean so you don't get any cavities. Make sure you are staying active at home, especially since the weather has finally started to cool down.
This week in P.E. we will be starting our basketball unit. We know many of you love playing basketball and some of you play outside of school. For those of you that don't play, this will be a great opportunity for you to learn how to play. For those of you that do play, this will be a great chance for you to help your classmates learn and master the required skills. We will be teaching you how to dribble, pass, and shoot the ball. For the last couple of weeks we were practicing our throwing and catching skills, keep practicing these because they will be an important part of our basketball unit. Remember, anything we do in the gym, you can do at home. We also talked about if you could change the world how would you do it. We heard some great answers; ask your family members and friends what they would do. Anyone can change the world!
As always, we enjoy seeing you in person as well as on the computer. We look forward to seeing you this week!
**Remember to wear tennis shoes and bring your own water bottle for P.E.**
