Arrowhead Update
October 7, 2022
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
Happy October! Over the next month you will be invited to your child's classroom during the school day to get a "peek" into your child's day. Each grade level will hold an event specific to that grade level. If you haven't heard anything yet, you should soon! The intent of these opportunities is for you to learn more about your child's day both socially and academically. We will be asking for your feedback at the end of these events so that we are able to be responsive to our community as we plan family engagement opportunities moving forward. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Last week our Mascot Selection Committee met to review all the submissions and narrowed it down to five options. We focused on mascots that represented community, family, resilience, and strength, based on the responses to our community survey. We also focused on mascots that were unique, with little or no representation in other CCSD schools. As of now we have passed our recommendations and rationale on to District Leadership Team and the Equity, Culture, and Community Engagement department for their review and approval. Once we receive their approvals we will be able to announce the options and start the voting process. Our 5th graders will lead the "campaign" for the mascots, but we are encouraging all grade levels to take part! This is an exciting opportunity for our students and community!
I also want to thank Megan Hennington for organizing an amazing community clean-up event on Wednesday! Thank you also to all of the families and staff who participated and helped get our school grounds cleaned up! We appreciate our community's support in keeping our school grounds in great condition!
Have a wonderful October!
Kind regards,
Kelsey Jones

Attendance
Dogs on School Grounds
Please note that dogs are not allowed on school grounds. If you would like to bring your dog to drop-off or pick-up your child, please remain on the sidewalks around the perimeter of the school or in the field past the last goalpost.
Parking Lot Procedures
Please help us keep kids safe by following our parking lot procedures. Please refer to the map of our parking lot below for where you can safely drop-off/pick-up.
Drop-Off/Pick-Up (Teal): This is a space for you to quickly drop-off and pick-up at the beginning and end of the day. This is a fire lane, so you must remain with your car at all times. Students should enter and exit the car on the curb side (right side), as cars will be passing in the through lane on the left side of the car.
Red Curve: This is a no parking or waiting zone, as our buses need to be able to get around that corner safely.
Bus Parking (Yellow): Only buses may park here. Cars parked in this space will be asked to move to make room for buses. Once the buses have departed, this may be used as additional space for pick-up.
Through Lanes (Green): These lanes should continuously move. Please do not wait or park here and at no time should cars be double parked.
Parking: The only space where you may park is in a marked parking spot. If there is not a spot available, please park on the street and walk in.
Right Turn Only (2:45-3:00 pm): When exiting the parking lot during afternoon dismissal, all cars need to turn right out of the parking lot and loop through the neighborhood. For safety reasons, please do not make a u-turn in the areas around the school (signage indicates where u-turns cannot be made).
