A Message From Our Principal
Greetings!
A lot of great things are happening as we change from “The Road Back,” to “The Road Forward!”
If you tuned into the Board of Education committee meeting this week, you heard the plans the district has and how they will be implemented for more in-person learning. Certainly exciting to see it unfold! We will begin a 4 to1 plan in late March. Four days in person and one full day virtual, on Mondays. While the days will still be abbreviated, there are always plans and ideas to eventually get back to 5 days in person and five full days of school. It will take a little time as we begin to open up more in person. We still want safety first and the high school students will be required to wear not only a face mask but a face shield as well. Since moving in the hall is necessary we feel the double protection of the mask and shield will help the students be safe. In the classrooms, what the students are required to wear will depend on the number of in person students. You can see the link to Dr. Gruccio’s plan below.
Surveys have been sent to parents through the parent portal. It is imperative that you fill out these surveys so we can get a number of how many students to expect in the buildings and so we can be prepared. We want the experience for all to be exciting and safe. If you are unsure how to get to the document please contact
I have been getting a lot of questions about driving to school. Remember driving is a privilege for seniors only who meet the requirements outlined on the web page. Each year senior parents hope their child can drive, however due to the lack of spaces only those meeting the requirements may drive. This year due to our hybrid schedule, we allowed the A day student to share a space with a B day student. Only one of the two students meet the requirements. As we move to four days in session one student only can have that space, (again as explained when the contracts were signed). Based on the number of students that plan to return to the 4/1 model, we may be able to accommodate the seniors who have been driving and are not ambassadors, in the academies or on senior option. We will know more next week when the surveys have been tallied.
Amazing how quickly time is flying! Monday will be March 1 already! Let’s continue to work hard to complete your goals and finish the 2021 school year. We are beginning to plan our senior activities and events. More to come on that as well. Seniors need to be focused in their English classes where many things will be rolled out!
Winter Track had their first meet on our newly resurfaced track and field. It was awesome to see our student athletes enjoy competing on a beautiful sunny day that was out of the ordinary at almost 50 degrees! Basketball had their senior night, Bowling and Swimming had several competitions, and Girls Volleyball and Wrestling will be starting soon. Spring is just around the corner!
Until next week, stay safe, be well, continue to dream of the possibilities ahead of us, be happy and smile at someone!
Ms.Connor

Students of the Week
Student: Janaleicia Smith
Nominated By: Mrs. Hartman
Janaleicia Smith is an enthusiastic and inspirational student. In her history class, she demonstrates knowledge of current events and world affairs combined with an empathy for those experiencing difficult times. She is an all-virtual student and is a lively participant in class discussions. Her friendliness and politeness radiates from the computer screen!
Student: Tristian Paupst

Tristan always actively participates and volunteers answers in class. He is also very sensitive to the feelings and needs of others. He goes out of his way to show support and encouragement to students who are expressing difficulty with certain concepts or drawing activities, and he's quick to congratulate those who have done a great job. Here are a couple of his comments. "It's okay, everyone feels that way sometimes" and "you'll get it, just keep trying." I truly appreciate and enjoy his presence in class every day!

Congratulations German Students
Congratulations to our HN German 2 and HN German 3 and AP German 4 students who placed on the American Association of Teachers of German National German Exams 2021. The exams were given and monitored virtually this January.
We have the Number 1 and 2 students in all of Southern New Jersey in level 4 (Craig, Al, Ashley) and the Number 1 student in Southern NJ in level 1 (Ryan). Achieving this level means that Ryan is eligible to apply for the AATG Summer Study Program.
