Riverglen Parent Newsletter- August 13, 2021

From the Desk of the Principal

Grizzly Parents/Guardians:

The staff and I are looking forward to having our Grizzlies in the building with us as we begin a new school year on Monday! As I am sure you are aware, from the BSD communication and perhaps the media, all students, staff, and visitors are going to be wearing masks while indoors as we start the school year. Outside students will not need to wear masks, but will still be encouraged to socially distance themselves. I take the safety of our students and staff very seriously and I just want to give you peace of mind should you need it. At Riverglen we will ALL be following every one of the safety protocols we have in place. We will be strictly enforcing face coverings (which are required per district policy), social distancing as much as we can, and we will continue disinfecting classrooms and common spaces frequently. Our school pandemic plan can be found below.

I am so excited that we are not in the same position as we were this time last year and will be here in person with the kids. We want to keep it that way. Our entire staff is committed to doing everything in our power to ensure a successful and in-person year together. If for some reason you are uncomfortable with your child wearing a mask, please let us know so we can enroll them at Boise Online School. We still have time to get them set up elsewhere and the counselors (listed at the bottom of the newsletter) are happy to help you do that if you choose to go in that direction.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs. Watts

Upcoming Dates at Riverglen

The title above (Mark Your Calendars) is a hyperlink to our school calendar on the Riverglen Web page. Please bookmark it and reference it as needed. On that calendar, you will find everything from school closure dates to activity, game and concert schedules that may involve your student.

Below are a few of the important dates coming up that all families should be aware of are:

August 16th- 2021-2022 First Day of School (Noon Release)

August 19th- Riverglen Parent Open House Presentations

September 6th- No School- LABOR DAY

Got School Supplies?

If your Grizzly needs school supplies and purchasing them is a hardship for you, please don't let it be. We have donated supplies and can help!

Just have your student(s) stop by the counseling office on Monday and we can get them what they need or email jaime.faraimo@boiseschools.org and she can get some ready for your student today.

Parking Lot

Please make sure to budget a bit more time, take it slow and only drop students off curbside in the morning next week. Students are to be dropped off in the front or side parking lots. Do not pull into the bus lanes. The parking lot can get backed up during drop-off times historically. Also, remember that if you are trying to turn LEFT out of our parking lot onto Gary Lane it is almost impossible and causes heavy congestion. Please exit near the tennis courts on Gillis and use the light if you need to turn left. Also, remember to only park in designated spots and never leave your vehicles unattended in the red zone by the curb. Thank you for helping to keep our parking lot accident-free and safe for our students and staff as they walk into the building.

Parent Open House

Parent Open House will be virtual again this year. The feedback we heard from parents last year was overwhelmingly positive and we have opted to use this format again this year.

Next Thursday, I will be sending out a staff list where each of the teachers will have a link to their presentation. Presentation length per teacher will last between 5-7 minutes and will introduce parents to the content and structure of their classes. parents can then watch the presentations at their leisure.
