Connecting with Greenwood Elementary Families: Aug. 31, 2023
Welcome Back
It has been a pleasure to welcome back all of our students to Greenwood Elementary School. We've been doing a lot of learning already and have so many fun experiences planned for your children and your family throughout the year. We are excited to have you get involved and into our school. When you can't physically be with us we invite you to check out our District Facebook Page by following Greenwood Wildcats.
I want to thank you all, for your patience with the new dismissal updates. I think we've got it down. Don't forget to turn in your Dismissal Plan if you haven't already and let us know if writing or by phone of any changes.
I also wanted to let you know that we also have a new email address, ESAttendance@greenwoodsd.org, where you can email student excuse notes, doctors notes for absences, and early dismissal notes. All excuse notes should go to the office. Pen and paper notes are still welcome. This is just another option for those of you that prefer to communicate digitally. As a reminder if your child is absent for a medical appointment or doctors visit, please get a medical excuse. In a year you can use 10 ill child, parent excuses without a doctors note. So, it's always good to utilize the medical excuse when you can.
I am so excited to work with you and to make this a meaningful and memorable year for our students.
Enjoy the Day,

Back to School NIght
Back to School Night is a fun night for Students in grades 1-5 to bring heir families into the school to see their classroom, meet their teachers, and get to see some of the fun we've had in the first few weeks of school. Back to School Night will be held September 7, 2023 from 5:30-7:00 in the Elementary School. Please enter through the LGI and take time to visit your child's teacher(s) and our community guests. In addition, we will have our PTO on sight to share some of their events and activities for the year and our tech team on sight to answer school technology related questions. This will also be the first night to purchase our signature blue and gold Pure-Vita Bracelets. Proceeds benefit the Greenwood Elementary PTO. See more information on the flier below.

Newport Public Library
Our friends at the Newport Public Library want you to know that you are always welcome! There is not public library in the in our immediate community so NPL is the public library that serves the entire Greenwood population. Greenwood families can get a library card free of charge and can use it at NPL for checking out books and movies as well as to access online resources provided by the state (ACCESS PA and the POWER Library). This is great for homework help, research, or just plain enjoyment.
