Innovative STEM teaching in Mr. McKamie's PreK 4 class - walkSTEM

A walkSTEM station has started in Mr. McKamie's class, where scholars explore Math in the world around them. At this station, the scholars are wearing their science vests, and measuring features of the carpet using legos. walkSTEM uses the lived world of classrooms and schools to reveal the wonders of mathematics in our everyday environments. In PreK 4, so far, they will be exploring concepts such as shapes, relative sizes, counting, and areas.

Fun and Educational Summer Activities

The summer is almost here, and we need to start thinking about what engaging and educational activities there are for the summer months. Our two closest libraries, Park Forest and Manske both have amazing free programs. Gooch also pays for a large range of educational computer games and programs that are free for the students to use over the summer. Make sure you look out for the login information that will be sent home in the last week of school, and made available on Bloomz. Remember that one of the most important things you can do with your children this summer is read with them every day. Read to them, or have them read to you, whichever is best for their level.

PTSA Corner

Gatorfest was a blast, thanks to all our volunteers and people who came and enjoyed themselves. We raised $2100. As you all know, Gooch is starting to get crowded with our increasing enrollment. The $2100 will go toward building two storage sheds for the school to free up some room. Thank you all for supporting Gooch and the Gooch Gators PTSA!
