Word Study: Irregular Nouns
Reading: This week we read The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. While reading we discussed how to draw conclusions by looking at the pictures and the context clues. Afterwards, we used Keynote or Clips to create a short graphic from the wolf's point of view. HE WAS FRAMED!! Next we read, "Coyote School News." We discussed when the story took place and how this historical fiction piece was different than some others we read. We noticed that each page had a different heading and some of the pages contained news articles written by the students in the story. After reading we created our own news article covers. Finally we used flexible centers to read in small groups, draw conclusions, complete I-ready, work on word study and listen to our new podcast of the week.
Writing Workshop: Creative Writing-Each day this week students picked a picture and created a story or poem that related to the picture. We came up with some very funny, interesting and scary stories and poems.
