If you are able to help pack orders on the day - ...... please also let the office know. Last year many hands made this go well.

  • #3 EGGS - The Egg Project - We are so very fortunate to now be part of this wonderful project. Thank you to Mrs Moor for helping with this. Below is an advert - you go online to www.theeggproject.co.nz, unique code is: SCH-020 and place your order before Tuesday night next week and these are delivered to school on Thursday afternoon where you can collect them from the school office. We receive $1 for every dozen that is sold. This will run weekly over the coming terms.

HELPING YOUR CHILD AT HOME

Thank you to those parents and family who have asked how they can help their child at home with their learning. Each teacher may do things differently as there are different expectations at each learning stage.

In the Juniors - daily reading helps them, use the readers or Poetry book that may come home. Let them read to you, you read to them or you can read together. 10 minutes every night makes a difference.

In the middle and senior end, children have library books they bring home for reading. We also place tasks on Seesaw, there is also Stepsweb, for Maths there is Mathletics (for use in the middle and senior school). Additional work may be set as well.

Some of the best learning is when they participate in team sports and participate in family time. You are all amazing and we thank you for all do making a difference in your child's life.

A REQUEST - PLEASE CHECK IN AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE IF:

  • You are dropping off a child after 9am so they can sign in and be marked present on the roll
  • You are picking up your child during school hours for an appointment or early pick up (please do not go into classrooms during the school day). This is for the safety of all as we need to know who is in the school and where our children are. Thank you for your support with this.

Abundant blessings to you all for the term ahead.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Our two senior rooms have had the great learning experience of having Nova teaching us about eating healthy, the importance of 5+ a day, learning about vitamins. We also learnt about reading food packages and the importance of reading labels. The two senior rooms will then head to New World on Thursday to look through food items. Thank you to those parents who have offered to be part of our 'Walking Bus' to New World Pioneer Highway.

SPONSORSHIP for our Senior Playground

Please see our draft letter below - if you know of anyone or a company that may be able to sponsor our senior playground then please let us know.

28 February 2023

Dear

We would like to ask if you/your company would be able to support and sponsor Our Lady of Lourdes primary school in rebuilding our ‘Senior Playground.’ Our Lady of Lourdes is a primary Catholic school just off Pioneer Highway on Shamrock Street. We currently have 130 amazing children/tamariki aged from 5-10 years of age. We endeavour to provide a safe environment for children/ tamariki inside and outside the classroom that allows them to learn more about the Gospel values and those of the Mercy sisters, to develop new skills in a range of areas, being able to work independently and in teams, and to make a difference in our community through using kind hands, heart and voice.

At the start of this school year we had to close our much loved Senior Playground as it was no longer safe to use. Although we are a school, repairs to our playground equipment can not be sourced through ministry funding and relies on local fundraising, which we are busily undertaking at school.

We are asking local businesses/organisations/individuals to help us fund the repairs we need to complete this. We are looking for people that would be willing to invest in the repairs to the playground. Our school needs to fundraise an additional $6,000 - $10,000 before April for the repairs to take place and for our children to get their much loved and missed playground back in use.

In return for your sponsorship, we would display your company logo at the front of our school, on our website, a playground sponsors gallery on Facebook and school newsletter for the next two years. If you are an individual, we will have your name visible on our sponsor's board inside the school entrance. If your preference is to remain anonymous we are happy to accommodate that.

If you have any further questions or would like to make contact to discuss further , please feel free to email our school principal, Caroline Gilligan at: principal@olol.school.nz or phone during school hours on 06 3589727 or our Board Presiding member, Maria Amey at mariaamey80@gmail.com.

We thank you for your time in reading this, and we look forward to hearing from you.
