New Lebanon School
Weekly Updates
¿Necesita leer nuestro boletín en español?
Hello Bobcat Families! We had a fabulous week back at New Leb following a rejuvenating Spring Break. Spring is in the air, and while we know warm weather brings excitement, we still work hard every day to practice our mitigation strategies: wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance. Thank you for your partnership in practicing these behaviors. A few important updates are below!
Summer School
Thank you for your patience as we finalize GPS summer school. If your child is invited to summer school, you will receive an email from GPS about the details. Please be on the lookout for this!
Field Day & 5th Grade Graduation
Thank you for your patience as we work to finalize Field Day & 5th Grade Graduation Details - more information will be coming soon regarding these events and our safety measures for them.
SBA Reminder
Remember grades 3-5 will be taking the SBA (state assessments) the week we return from break. Please make sure that your child has a good night's sleep and has breakfast at home or for free at school. Also, student ipads, headphones, and keyboards should stay at school for the two weeks of test administration. If you notice any of those items at home, make sure they return to school the next day.

Free COVID-19 Testing
If you or your child are symptomatic, we recommend getting tested as soon as possible. But if there are no symptoms, waiting 3-5 days from the possible exposure will give you the most accurate test results. Family Centers Health Care offers free COVID-19 testing at their Greenwich and Stamford locations. Details about their hours of operation and appointments can be found on their website. To find all test sites in your area, please visit United Way’s 2-1-1 website.
As a reminder, if someone in your home is symptomatic and awaiting results of a COVID-19 test, please keep your child at home until results are final. We understand that many families proactively test for work or other reasons, and this type of proactive testing for asymptomatic individuals does not require keeping your child at home.
Together in Safety and Learning,
Mrs. Michaelson & Mrs. Eisenstein

SBA - 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade
It is that time of year for our Smarter Balanced Assessments also known as the SBA. These are the state tests that are administered in our school in the Spring each year for grades 3-5. The tests consist of a Math test, a math performance task, an English Language Arts test, and a Science test (5th grade only). In order to have the best experience possible, we ask that your child get a good nights sleep, have a healthy breakfast, and arrive with a fully charged iPad. Students are always able to have breakfast each day at school (free of charge) from 8:00-8:15. Please make sure your child is at school exactly at 8:00am during the testing period in order to get set up for the test. Students who arrive late will go to the media center and will take the test on another makeup day.

‘Live Like Luke’ beach cleanup
The 2nd annual “Live Like Luke” beach cleanup at Greenwich Point Park is scheduled for Saturday, April 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will honor the memory of Luke Meyers, the Greenwich High School student who lost his battle with cancer in 2019. As a board member of the GHS Environmental Action Club and a Bruce Museum Seaside Center volunteer, Luke chose to dedicate his “Make A Wish” gift to the improvement of the world’s environment. This summer, his concept of an interactive multi-media exhibit on climate change will debut at the Seaside Center.
Volunteers for the event may walk in or may register by emailing info@greenwichgreenandclean.org or https://tinyurl.com/BeachCleanupLiveLikeLuke2021. Check-in will be in the parking lot across from the first concession stand. Buckets and gloves from home will be helpful, however, they will be available on site. Masks, social distancing and small groups will be necessary.
April and May Parent Chats
During these challenging times, please join us for a virtual “Parent Video Chat” facilitated by one of our GPS psychologists. Connect virtually with other parents in our community and learn effective strategies to manage personal stress and discuss relevant topics (how to establish routines at home, manage challenging behaviors, build your kids resilience). You can join whenever and stay for as long as you can. We are here to answer questions and provide support.
