Morning: Exploring Commercial Scripts

FIRST HOUR

1. We will do a 25-minute warm-up session to get the kids loose and in a creative state of mind, involving improve, call and response, etc.

2. We will talk to them about the importance of play in VO work, the emphasis on body and intuition over mind/brain when talking. We will talk about the correct practice process before reading a script. We will go over a Voice Over Checklist together.

(5 minute break)

SECOND HOUR

3. We will analyze a kid’s VO commercial script, and then begin working on actual commercial scripts, reading for comprehension, diction, and communication.

(5 minute break)

THIRD HOUR

We will continue working on practice scripts, doing solo and group scripts, and exploring the differences between the two.

(One Hour For Lunch)

Afternoon: Creating Characters

FOURTH & FIFTH HOUR

We will discuss how to create characters from scratch using your own imagination and physicality. Then we will play a character improv game. After the game, kids will bring a character they have created up to the mic to talk to the rest of us. We will then ask questions of the characters to deepen their understanding of what they have created.

(5 minute break)

SIXTH HOUR

We will work on Character Scripts from video games (movie cut-aways and game play), toys, mobile game apps, and animation, both solo and in dialogue.

(5 minute break)

SEVENTH HOUR

We will prepare for our Final Presentation of a few select radio plays created especially for kids.

PRESENTATION

The kids will perform a few select radio plays for parents and friends.
