New to Wilson this year, the Principal's Advisory Council is a group of students representing all three grade levels tasked with giving students voice in how we do things at Wilson. These fine young men and women will work with Mr. Eley for the next month to provide feedback, work together, and be strong representatives for their peers. This month's PAC are:

Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences
1st semester parent teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 20 and Thursday, Oct. 22 from 3-9pm both nights. This year, Wilson will be running all sign ups through an online site. The link is provided below:
https://www.myschoolsystems.com/cedarrapids/wilson/conferences/
Parents may begin signing up on Oct. 1st. Sign up is a breeze! Follow these simple steps and select the teachers and times that work for you:
1) Visit the link provided and select the parents tab at the top.
2) Enter your child's FULL first and last name in the fields. For password, enter your child's ID number (ask your child, it is the number they enter for lunch)
3) Pick which teachers and which times you want to conference (up to four teachers).
4) Click save and you are finished!
We know that some of our families have either unreliable internet access, no internet access, or "don't do" technology! While our preference is for families to sign up online, we are more than happy to assist in anyway we can. Stop into the main office and we can walk you through the process, or call (319) 558-2156 and our office staff can assist you in scheduling your conferences.
We look forward to meeting you all during fall conferences!!
School-Based Therapist On Site
Wilson Middle School is fortunate to be one of only a handful of schools district wide to have a site-based therapist at school to assist our young men and women with a variety of needs. Parents or guardians who feel their child may need a bit more support at school are encouraged to contact Trina Reiter at Wilson (319) 558-2156.
The Sports Report
Wilson's 7th and 8th grade students have come out in full forces this fall with tremendous participation numbers. Currently in grades 7 and 8 there are nearly 100 student-athletes participating in football, volleyball, soccer, tennis, and cross country. Competitions get underway in early September. Check the Wilson website at http://wilson.cr.k12.ia.us/ for game day information. For up-to-the-minute results follow us on Twitter @CRWilsonRams
GO RAMS!!!!
GEAR UP
Ms. Brokovich, our GEAR UP coordinator, welcomes our 8th grade GEAR UP students back to Wilson for a great 8th grade year! Any student who did not get a GEAR UP t-shirt last year should see Ms. B ASAP. Also, any 8th grade parents or guardians who would like to know what support their child can receive should contact Ms. Brokovich at tbrokovich@cr.k12.ia.us or call (319)558-2156.
GEAR UP is a federally funded grant that provides services and scholarship opportunities for "at-risk" youth by creating a college-bound culture. Upcoming events include college campus visits, family nights, and after-school tutoring. Contact Tara Brokovich for further information.
Late Bus
This year, Wilson will offer a late bus on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. This is for students who are working with a teacher after school, are detained for disciplinary reasons, or are participating an after-school club.
The bus will make satellite stops at the following locations (times are approximate):
- Load at Wilson MS (4:00pm)
- Hawthorne Hills (4:10pm)
- Taylor Elementary (4:15pm)
- Van Buren Elementary (4:20pm)
- Westdale Court Apartments (4:25pm)
- Summit View Trailer Court (4:30pm)
- Grand View Trailer Court (4:35pm)
Students MUST have a SIGNED AND DATED late bus pass from a Wilson Staff member to board the late bus. Capacity is limited to one bus, so only students with passes will be allowed to ride; students choosing to hang out after school thinking they can hop on the late bus will not be permitted to ride and will need to find an alternate way home. Questions? Contact Mr. Eley in the Wilson Main Office at (319) 558-2156.
