Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Saving the Planet

What are the three "R"s?

The three "R"s can save the planet

How can they?

Reducing the amount of stuff we buy and throw away can save our resources and help keep them around for a long time. Every year each person in the United States uses about 749 pounds of paper, and every year 4 billion trees are cut down for paper use. But if every American recycled just one tenth of their newspapers we would save 25,000,000 trees each year. We can also recycle plastic bottles, metal cans, and glass bottles to keep them out of dumps and reuses them so we don't have destroy more resources to make more of them. Reusing things like old clothes by giving them to younger relatives can help by not throwing them away and then they don't have to go and buy more.
