Brain Cancer
A disease that can change a life
What is brain cancer?
Brain cancer is a type of cancer that can happen in your brain or move to your brain depending on where it is located. Brain cancer can come in a tumor type form and cause really big damage to the brain. If the tumor starts in the brain it is called a primary brain tumor. If it starts in another part of the body and spreads to the brain it is called metastatic brain tumor. Sometimes the tumors might be benign (not cancer) or malignant (cancer). Even though it might not be cancer you would still need treatment to get rid of it. Tumors that are in the brain are really slow and will likely not spread throughout your body but if there is a part of your brain that has cancer it will spread fast and move throughout the body. Some of the symptoms of having a tumor is that you are getting headaches, nausea, vomiting ,blurred vision, balance problems etc.

How it can be treated.
You can have many treatments depending on what you would like and how it is growing. You could have surgery with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, or hormone therapy. Some of these options can help you with cancer and can start to make it shrink or it can make it go away.
What can cause cancer?
Some of the factors that I found out that can cause brain cancer is tobacco, environmental toxins, HIV infections, and radiation to the head. Most of the things that I have listed are causes that can lead to brain cancer or any other type of cancer.
Who is more likely to develop brain cancer?
You are more likely to develop brain cancer if you are 65 or older or if you are a young child. It also may vary depending on what cells that you have and what they are. It depends on where the tumor is in your brain or in your body at the time. Also, men are most likely to develop a brain tumor than women do. There is a 5% chance that you may get it because it is in your genes.
How do you prevent brain cancer?
A way that you can prevent cancer is to stop smoking, always get exercise, and stay on a good diet. These can help you prevent some of the risks of brain cancer or other types of cancer. You have to make sure that you get exercise on a daily basis so that nothing will go wrong and that your body will stay fit and be able to fight for anything that it has picked up. There are focus groups that you can attend to help you through brain cancer and it can really help you with the thought and how to deal with it.
What I have learned
I have learned that brain cancer has two different types of names like whether or not it is cancer or if it is just a tumor that is in your brain. Brain cancer can move from your spine into your head slowly and it can hurt or damage somethings in your brain like it can cause you to lose your memory and it can make you imagine or hallucinate things that aren't even there. Some of the things that can heal brain cancer are also the causes of it. Depending on where the tumor is located and how fast it is growing it can spread to other places in the brain making it harder to do the regular things that you normally do.
