October 14th - Be Flexible

We'll discuss this more at Collaboration, but as a reminder this Wednesday we will only be testing the PSAT 10th & 11th graders. Freshmen & seniors will stay in their AL and/or "Homerooms" until 11:27. THERE WILL BE NO NWEA TESTING ON THIS DAY. We are working on securing two seperate presentations from Noble County EDC during that time...one geared towards the 9th graders and the other targeting the seniors. Once that gets solidified, we'll pass along those details.

This will also be the day we target our bully presentation. We'll use a similar format to what we did last year...videos, class discussions, and sign off sheets in order to get the information to students and comply with the legal statues.

It will be an unusual day to say the least. As you design your Canvas assignments for that day, keep in mind, half the student population will be undergoing 3+ hours of testing.

In the event of a Fog Delay, we will be rescheduling the PSAT and will operate on a "regular" delayed bell schedule...we will proceed with the bullying presentation during AL.

JA Fall Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser

Junior Achievement is a non-profit volunteer organization that brings work readiness skills and information to students with the purpose of inspiring the entrepreneurial spirit in the next generation. ENSC has a great working relationship, and volunteers come into our classrooms on a regular basis.

JA needs our help. In an effort to raise funds for their local chapter, they will be hosting a Bowl-A-Thon on November 7th. The goal is to raise $375 per team. If you or your club would like to raise a team to represent ENHS, let me know and I'll give you more details. We will be conducting a building wide staff Jeans Day dedicated to JA. The first group to organize a team of five will get the proceeds of that Jeans Day to get you closer to your fundraising goal.

Construction has ended and we can now return to some of our spots in the south parking lot. We have lost about 20 spots permanently in the back lot. However, now that the construction equipment is gone we gain some spots that we lost last spring. If you were one of the folks moved out to the front who would like to return to the back, check with Marilyn. She will maintain the master list. If you would like to remain assigned in the front southwest corner (by the YMCA), let Marilyn know that too and she'll get you written into the master list. If you'd like to see what's available...check with Marilyn.

Tours Available

If any of you are interested in a manufacturing tour for your class, or if you'd like to request the assistance of a guest speaker for a class project, let me know and I'll help coordinate with Noble County Economic Development Committee.

Do you know a colleague (teacher, school counselor, school social worker, school nurse, etc.) who would like to share a "best practice"? Do you know an educator who has found ways to raise student achievement? Some topics may be: Technology Integration? ELL? Content Area Literacy Strategies? Special Education Management? Literacy Strategies? Close Reading? Math Process Standards? PBL? Preparing for IN Assessment? Text Complexity? Higher Order Thinking Skills? Authentic Performance Assessment? 21st Century Skills? Working with the HGT? Motivation? Guided Math? Working with Parents? Bullying? Informational Text? Effective Instructional Strategies? Instructional Scaffolding? Blended Learning? Gifted and Talented? Brain Breaks? The topics are endless! What effective strategy/methodology have you found to be successful? Share a 50-minute workshop on Saturday, March 5, from 8 a.m.-noon at the University of Saint Francis!

The Best Practices Showcase is a celebration of, for, and by public, parochial, and private school educators. Please help us celebrate educators' classroom practices by sharing strategies with fellow educators and university students at our Ninth Annual Best Practice Showcase. Recommend a colleague or share one of your practices.
