Why We LOVE our Catholic School: Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education
As Catholic parents and educators, we are reminded daily of the universal call to bring our students to Christ. Choosing Catholic schools for our children is our way to put Christ and His message of peace, hope, and love at the center of all we do and all we are. Many parents, educators, faith leaders, and parishioners are actively sharing the wonder and importance of our Catholic schools. GrACE invites all those committed to Catholic education to be advocates and witnesses for our schools. Sometimes the strongest witnesses are our students. I was able to sit with a few of our Saint John XXIII students and listened to their responses to the question, “What do you like about coming to a Catholic school?”
Grace, Grade 4: I like being in a Catholic school because it helps me learn about faith and God. It is also really exciting because in grade 4 you get your own bible. I also like being in a Catholic school because it helps me follow the footsteps of God and Jesus.
Abby, Kindergarten: I get to see my friends at school. I like to learn about Jesus because He makes everyone happy.
Colten, Grade 3: I like seeing all kinds of people come together, no matter what, because we know God loves everyone.
Sandra, Grade 4: I like to come to a Catholic school because we know that God is with us all the time and our teachers are loving and caring. I like when we got to assembly on Mondays and learn about God.
Gabe, Grade 4: I like it because you get to learn about how important Jesus is and how to make the right choices in life-like being kind to everyone.
Corissa, Grade 3: There are really kind kids here. I’ve learned a lot about Jesus, Mary and God. Jesus is important because He teaches us to be kind and to love one another. We have a chapel where we can pray and if something is going bad-you can pray and get help.
Grace, Grade 3: I like it because you get to learn about Jesus and God. This is important because I learn how to be a kind person. We learn different prayers and we pray every day. I just like talking to Jesus when I have stuff to share or when things are bothering me. I like learning about Saint John XXIII’s Daily Decalogue because it helps me stay positive.
Kayne, Grade 4: I think the people in Catholic schools are really nice because Jesus helps us remember to be kind and show respect. I like being on the Servant Leadership Squad because I can share my gifts on the Healthy Living Team and help people be healthy.
Maria, Grade 1: Because I like learning about God. I like listening to the stories and learning the lessons. It helps me be a good person.
Myelle, Grade 2: Because we get to learn about God and all the places Jesus was. I learn about God in Heaven and it helps me feel close to God like when my brother was sick and we prayed for him. I felt better.
Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of Heaven belongs. Matthew 19: 14
Blessings,
Mrs. Boehm

School Fees: Field Trips & Presentations
School fees letters went out this week. Elk Island Catholic Schools continue to make an effort to reduce the cost of basic education for all students by covering the cost of school supplies. The fees you are being charged are for student field trips, presentations, and enhanced options. These fees have been applied to your child's account in PowerSchool to enable you to pay online with a debit card or credit card. This also give you the choice to make payments by selecting the "Create Payment Plan" option. However, if you wish to pay by cash or cheque, please send it to the school office (make cheques payable to Elk Island Catholic Schools). If you have other questions or require assistance with the online payment, please contact our school at 780-998-7777. If you are experiencing financial hardship please review the fee waiver here or contact the principal, Mrs. Bonnie-Lynne Boehm, to discuss support.
