K-2 Newsletter

April 8, 2016

Hi K-2 Team,

Almost a month has passed since our last newsletter due to Spring Break! We hope you all had a relaxing break and are ready for this last push to the end of the year. Use this newsletter to check your pacing for Heggerty and Wilson Phonics, to keep improving your guided reading, and to learn about a new resource added to the MAP Workstation pages!

Have a great weekend,

Avis, Tiffany, and Krysten

Heggerty and Wilson Phonics Pacing

Here is the pacing for the next two weeks of school:

Week of April 11th: Week 30

Week of April 18th: Week 31

Guided Reading Tip of the Week

Though Word Study is found at the end of the Emergent, Early, and Transitional lesson plans, Word Study is still very critical to building fluent decoders. If you are confused about how to structure these or what words and/or activities to use, check out the resources in Appendix A of your "Next Steps" text for support! Pages 271-272 give a high level overview and then each page following gives more details. Check it out to support your guided reading lesson planning!

RIT to Resource

Additional resources have been added to both MAP workstation pages! The RIT to Resource link will take you to a new link where you can search for worksheets, anchor charts, lesson plans, and online activities aligned to specific RIT and/or grade levels. Use it to continue to support your small group instruction and workstations!

April 20th Network PD

Remember that Wednesday, April 20th, will be our next and final network PD day! Expect more support around Guided Reading- an email regarding pre-work will be sent out no later by end of day on Monday, April 11th.
