Our very own OP "heart hero" is the spotlight at our annual American Heart Association kick-off assembly:

We celebrated a very special assembly to kick off the Hoops for Heart & Jump Rope for Heart Event at Ontario Primary. This is the 9th year that O.P. has participated in this event to raise funds for the American Heart Association. This year was particularly special as the Lingg family from Ontario NY shared their personal story of their son, Kaden Lingg, who was born with a rare cardiac tumor. Kaden is a kindergarten student at O.P., his older brother Lukas is a 2nd grade student at O.P., and Mrs. Lingg who is a great addition to our O.P. cafeteria staff! Kaden is our very own "Heart Hero" and will be a great inspiration to all of us as we raise money to support heart research and treatment. I am proud to recognize our physical education teachers, Mr. Burlee and Mrs. Watson, who provide a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and organization to make this event such a big success. They were both recognized for being the second highest fundraising school across ALL of New York State! Ashley Dates, from the American Heart Association, was present for the kick-off assembly and holds a special place in her heart for O.P. and the tremendous Wayne community. We truly thank all of our parents and students for making this fundraiser such a big success and valued tradition at O.P. We are excited that Ontario Elementary will also be hosting this event and look forward to our K-5 Ontario schools helping the larger community!

It is time for planning our spring parent/teacher conferences!

Our upcoming parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, March 9 & Friday, March 11. Please note that on both days we will have an early dismissal for students to allow conferences to be scheduled. We value the opportunity to meet with all parents to support your child's success in school.

Pictured above are students who put on a special performance play to celebrate Jan Brett's book, The Mitten.

Thank you to all of our parents who attended this special performance! Our students in Ms. Herbst's 1st grade classroom demonstrated confidence and had fun as they each depicted different roles!

"Pop of Hearts" art is beautifully displayed outside of Mr. Watson's classroom that was created by Ms. Balta's class.

Our students enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day by sharing many special wishes with their classmates and teachers. I want to thank our parents and staff for making this a special day for all at Ontario Primary School!

Congratulations to our Reading Recovery Students for a Successful Completion of the 1st Semester Program!

We had a wonderful celebration breakfast to congratulate students who just completed the 20-week Reading Recovery Program. We were honored to have parents join us as well as Dr. Calvin, Superintendent of Schools and Mr. LaRuche, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. I want to sincerely thank our Reading Recovery teachers Mrs. Baleno, Mrs. Dow, Mrs. LaFave, and Mrs. Moldt for planning such a special celebration and providing quality daily instruction to support our students in becoming skillful readers and writers!

I wish all of our students and families an enjoyable remainder of the February Break!

I am certain that our students were quite excited about the abundance of snow that arrived yesterday with one of the biggest winter storms that has hit our area! I hope you all continue to enjoy the remaining days of our winter break.

Sincerely,

Pam
