PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora koutou,

A big thank you to all those parents who have been following the school guidelines when entering the school grounds under Level 2. As we all know wearing face coverings is becoming part of our new normal and that regulation may be with us for some time to come. We as a school certainly appreciate the effort that is being made by all.

Polyfest

This week we were informed that the Polyfest event that was re-scheduled for the end of this term has been cancelled. We have decided that as soon as we move down to Alert Level 1 we will be having a full community performance at the complex. Please look out for more information to follow.

Lockdown Review Questionnaire

We would really appreciate it if you could spend some time completing this questionnaire around how you found the home learning. We understand that there is no right or wrong response here and children's needs are all different and diverse.

So far we have had 59 people complete this survey. We are just over half way there. Please get on and complete this survey if you haven't yet as your responses will enable us to review and then plan for the future.

Book Fair and Book Week Update

As the end of the term approaches, we are getting ready for a favourite part of the year - Book Fair and Book Week.

BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair will be set up in the library this year. It runs from Monday 20th to Wednesday 29th September. Julie will have the fair open to the public from 8:30 to 9:00am and 3:00 to 3:30 pm daily - closed at lunch time. As we remain in Level 2, visitors will be required to scan in and wear a mask while in the Library.

Classes will have the opportunity to come and look at the books on offer and students can make their wish lists.

Normal class library times will be postponed while the Book Fair is set up. The library will be available on Thursday and Friday for students who want to have a book over the school holidays.

BOOK WEEK

This runs from Monday 27th September to Friday 1st October.

This week is all about enjoying books through a variety of fun activities. The teachers will be reading their favourite books to other classes. There will be a variety of competitions that the children can take part in, both at school and at home. Maureen will be setting off the reading hooter which signals that everyone stops what they are doing and reads. Finally Friday is all about dressing as our favourite book characters, having a book-themed shared lunch in house groups and a street parade, starting at approximately 1:30 p.m. So all in all, a great week is in store to see off Term 3.
