LAVCA Housekeeping for EVERYONE
- Complete Welcome Courses . They are now past due. For directions to locate, look in Welcome Packet #3 below.
- Read and submit your signature and photo release for the 2018-19 Student Handbook.
- Check Attendance and be sure you child has correct attendance. For the first few weeks, students may need to add supplementary activities to reach required attendance expectations. See the chart below for expected hours by the end of each week.
- New Students and 6th graders should attend a required virtual orientation as soon as possible. Within this session, many of your "getting started" questions will be answered.
- Log into LIVE HELP for assistance! We are live daily to assist and want to!
- LOOK for FAST PROGRAMMING to assist new families! We will have biweekly sessions with tips for educating virtually!
- ***NOTE: Attendance should closely match program expectations and program participation and falsifying attendance is against school policy. Extremely high attendance hours are an immediate indicator of falsification.***

Important Information About LAVCA Outings
Please Read ALL Carefully!
If you do make a reservation, please make every effort to attend or cancel your reservation prior to the event. Both the venues and our staff need that information to be as accurate as possible so that we can properly plan. Outing reservations will close the TUESDAY at 12:00 before the event so that venues can be properly notified of how many participants to expect. Some outings may also be limited to a certain number of participants due to the size of the venue. Questions? Email me at giwarren@k12.com for more information after reading all information.

LSU Bash on the Bayou - Register & Order Your Football Tickets!
Friends and Supporters,
Join the LSU College of Agriculture and the Ag Alumni Association for "Bash on the Bayou"-- a tailgate event as the Tigers take on Louisiana Tech on Saturday, September 22. Enjoy an afternoon on campus with a Louisiana tailgate, recruitment presentation, Ag Olympics, tours and more!
The cost is $5 in advance and $10 at the gate. Proceeds from this event will go directly to scholarships for College of Agriculture students. Louisiana FFA will be organizing a seating block and football ticket orders will be due by September 4th.

Information about LAVCA's Dual Enrollment:
- Dual Enrollment provides students an opportunity to earn both high school and college credit at the same time for approved courses.
- Students must acquire permission from their high school to participate; complete application with required signatures; 15 years of age and classified as an 11th or 12th grader for some of the colleges/universities; ACT Math subscore of 19 to take college Math course; ACT English subscore of 18 to take college English course; OR score 740 on the English EOC, score 750 on the Geometry EOC, score 760 on the Algebra I EOC; submit official high school transcript to the college; meet any other prerequisite requirements designated by the college.
- Students can choose from the following colleges: Baton Rouge Community College, Bossier Parish Community College, Delgado, McNeese, Northwestern, University of New Orleans and LSU-Eunice.

Teen Court of Greater Baton Rouge
Would you like to help your peers make better choices? Would you like to be an attorney, juror or bailiff? Would you like to learn how to prepare a case for court? If so, then Teen Court is for you!
What is Teen Court? Teen Court of Greater Baton Rouge is a program in which teens sentence their peers for first time offenses. Teen Court sentences may include community service and participation in future teen court sessions, attending educational programs and writing essays and letters of apology.
Become a Teen Court Volunteer – Positions Available:
Bailiff:
· administers the oath to the jury and all people who testify
· delivers the verdict form to the judge
Juror
· listens to evidence presented in the case
· determines constructive sentence for defendant
Teen Attorneys - Prosecution and Defense
· reviews case facts; defense interviews and prepares defendant
· prepares opening and closing statements; prepares direct and cross examination
Who Can Volunteer? All volunteers must:
· be currently enrolled in and attending middle or high school
· complete a six hour training session
· be dependable in fulfilling volunteer responsibilities, participating in at least two hearings per semester
