Hello Preschool Students and Families,
I wanted you to know that we miss our preschool students greatly! They bring so much joy and happiness to us every day. School is important, but so is everyone’s health. Please take care of yourself and each other (from a safe distance of course). The recent events with COVID-19 and school closings came so quickly, but I am very proud of our teachers. They have risen to the challenge and are planning and creating new ways for our preschoolers to learn and I hope the first week of distance learning has gone well. This will be an evolving process as we all get used to our "new normal". Please be patient with us as we learn how to provide instruction and interact with your family from a distance. We know that families are adjusting to a “new normal” as well. Do your best with the plans we provide. If you don’t get to all the activities every day, please do not worry. If you have other engaging ideas for your child(ren), please do them and let your teacher know. Preschool students should be exploring, inquiring, and playing each day – that is their job. One of our main goals over the coming weeks will be to continue our relationship with your child(ren) as best we can until we can be together again. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions, needs, or concerns. Take care.
Jason Bodey, Principal
Information about our Distance Learning Plan is on our website. Please check this regularly for updates from the teachers and other staff. There will be activities posted daily on the Distance Learning Site and optional choice board activities can be used for additional engagement. These activities can be completed throughout the course of the day based on your family's schedule.
Teachers will be using the Bloomz app, phone calls, and email as a main source of communication. As stated earlier, our Distance Learning Site will have all the activities posted daily. Teachers may also use Google Hangout to connect with families on an individual basis. If your family is unable to access an internet connection or does not have a device, we will be able to provide you printed learning activities. Please communicate this need to your teacher when they contact you and we will create a plan to get you the work. If your child will not be engaging in activities on a give day, please communicate the absence to your child's teacher.
We will be waiving the tuition bill for April. With the expectation that we will return on May 5th, we will plan to bill May tuition with a credit for the missed days in March. If you have any questions on tuition or billing, please call Katie Brown at 763-502-5105.
Spring Conferences: Signup.com
Hello Fridley Preschool Families, our teachers are looking forward to spending time with you during our upcoming conferences. This is a great opportunity to learn about what your child has been learning and review development and progress. Our conferences are scheduled for 15 minutes each, so please make every effort to be on time so you get your full time in. If you have a specific or more in-depth topic to discuss, it would be appropriate to schedule a meeting at another time with the teacher.
Conferences will be held May 14th, 18th, and 21st.
Please contact Katie Brown, Preschool Secretary, at 763-502-5105 if you are having any trouble scheduling your conference or if you need any special accommodations.
If you have not already signed up, please see links below for your child's teacher.
At this time we are unsure whether theses conferences will be in person, via phone, or virtually. We will communicate this closer to the dates.
IB Word of the Month: Caring
Caring is one of key words we use with our children at the Fridley Preschool and Community Center. As teachers and instructors, we model what it means to be a caring person for our children. Through their own interactions with other children, adults, family members, and friends outside of school, the word “caring” stands at the heart of the IB Learner Profile. In the district mission statement, the word caring is a vital, vibrant word as we “challenge ourselves, our students, and our community to become caring and knowledgeable lifelong learners who inquire and take action to create a better world.”
“Caring” embodies many qualities yet the most basic of these at the Fridley Preschool and Community Center is that WE ARE KIND!
