Serve, Lead & Inspire
Welcome to a New School Year!
As we begin our first week back, I wanted to send out some reminders. Everyone here at Lopez is eager to see the kids again and it is coming quick.
- Traffic will be bad and the student pick-up/drop-off will be a little slow to start, so please plan accordingly.
- When dropping off and picking up (down on the football field side of the school), please pull as far forward as you can before stopping. That way more cars can drop off at the same time and speed up the process.
- Students new to the district, such as many of our military families, are invited to a social on the first day of school from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. This is a good chance to meet new friends and get to know some of our current students as the year begins. It will be in the Library.
- We will take care of your kids! We have a dedicated and caring staff that will do their best for all of our kids.
- If you haven’t done so, please join the Lopez PTA.
Thank you for all your support and be ready for great things this year!
Eric Wernli, Principal

Putting First Things First!
Are You Checking Your Child Out Early?
All parents must come in to check their child out and present a photo ID for verification reasons. Please allow enough time for us to get your child out of class. Check-outs or changes to how a student goes home must be done prior to 3:15 pm.
Dropping Lunch Off For Your Child - If you decide to bring lunch for your child, we will hold their lunch up front until it's picked up on the way to the cafeteria. Students will need to know that their lunch is up front to pick up. Unfortunately, we are unable to interrupt class time to send notes about lunch.
Did Your Child Forget School Work, PE Clothes, an Instrument, Etc.?
We make every effort to deliver items that are dropped off to classrooms. Student aides are trained to help look-up schedules and take items to students. When you come in, please fill out a "Delivery Slip" at the Attendance Desk and we'll take care of the rest.
Most importantly, always bring your ID with you when coming inside. We are required to check IDs when signing out students and checking parents or visitors in to the school. Our front office staff rotate up front, so they may not recognize you when you arrive. It's always a good idea to bring your ID with you - it's how we keep our students safe!

Share Your Sharpen the Saw Summer Photos
We hope everyone had a great summer and enjoyed some relaxing days, retreats and trips during the summer break.
Our community is comprised of hard working, highly devoted people. While we work hard, we also take time to reward ourselves (Sharpen the Saw). As you're going through your summer photos, please share your experiences with us by sending family photos of events and vacations to Lopez Middle School.
Please share your photos by e-mailing them to Mr. Toback at ftobac@neisd.net or bring developed pictures to Lopez Middle School (Room A205). The pictures can be grayscale or color. They will be displayed in our Sharpen the Saw display inside the school for all to enjoy.
