Parents and Students,
Congratulations!!!!
Nelson Barrett and Bridger Saunders have been selected as first alternates
in the All-State Junior High Band. They submitted audition videos in October and may now have the opportunity to perform at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City in January, with less than one hundred other band students from the entire state who auditioned for the all-state band.
Hope Week
The theme is “Be Vocal 4 Mental Health” and “It’s Okay to Speak Up! YUP!”
We want to remind students and parents that when we have a broken leg or a broken arm we feel comfortable getting help and talking about it, and when we have a mental health issue, it is also okay to talk about it and reach out for help. Together we can erase the stigma surrounding mental health.
Thursday, November 21: Wear Yellow Day. The top three advisory classes with the highest percentage of students wearing yellow clothing will win a donut party on Friday.
Friday, November 22: If students have their wristband on at lunch, they will have a chance to win prizes and treats.
We encourage all students and parents to download the SafeUT app on their phones. Licensed mental health counselors are only a phone call or text away 24/7 and are available to help with depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues, suicide prevention, loss and/or grief, drug and/or alcohol problems, self-harm, relationship difficulties, or any life challenge. If students are worried about another student, an anonymous tip can be submitted through SafeUT to notify administration and counselors at Salem Jr. High for follow-up.
Bus Passes -
We have had an excessive number of students requesting a bus pass to ride home with friends. Due to buses being at capacity, the district transportation office has asked that passes only be given out on the rare occasion for an exceptional circumstance. We are asking that requests be kept to a minimum at this time.
Lunch Accounts -
Parents, please check your student’s lunch account balance. We have a very high number of students with negative balances. You can pay online at www.paypams.com or you can contact our lunch clerk at jill.galloway@nebo.edu for balance information. You can also contact Mrs. Cook in the finance office if you'd like to pay with a credit/debit card. If you need assistance, you may qualify for free or reduced lunch and can find more information at www.nebo.edu under the "Parent" tab.
