College Day - October 11th
On October 11th, all high schools in the district will be participating in “College Day.” On this day, freshman and sophomore students at Beckman will be taking Practice PSAT while juniors will take the PSAT/National Merit Qualifying Scholarship Test. The Practice PSAT for 9th and 10th graders and the PSAT for juniors will be provided FREE OF CHARGE and there is no registration needed. Students in grades 9-11 should plan to bring their laptop/device to school on the 11th so they can participate in Digital Citizenship lessons after their testing is complete.
Seniors during these assessments will work with our counseling department and representatives from various college organizations selecting presentations geared towards assisting seniors through the college application process. All seniors will attend workshops designed to guide students through this important time and provide information pertaining to “life after high-school.”
We will be on a modified minimum day schedule. School will start at 7:45, will end at 12:45 and there will be NO ZERO period. Below is a schedule of workshops for seniors to reference and a link to the PSAT website.

CubeSat Update
The Irvine CubeSat Program was created in 2015 by Dr. Brent Freeze and Mr. Kain Sosa. This project's goal is to be the first American high school program to successfully launch a CubeSat, which is a box-shaped satellite with sides about 10 centimeters. Irvine01, the first satellite produced by the program, is finished and is set to launch from India this fall. In conjunction with the other Irvine High schools, Beckman is proud to be a part of this program. Beckman is responsible for avionics, the control center of the satellite. In addition to learning technical details, students learning invaluable lessons about important skills in communication and the inner workings of the aerospace industry. Irvine02 had its formal kickoff in early September, and Irvine03 is already underway; students are currently preparing to present to NASA in a design review mid-October.
