Returning to School in January
Elementary students (K-5) will return to a daily in-person schedule starting on January 5. Middle and high school students (6-12) will return to their hybrid schedule—on January 5 students in B Group will return in-person, while A Group students return off-campus (in self-paced, asynchronous learning) with their first in-person day being January 7. Inspire4 Online will follow its normal schedule.
Aligned with CDPHE guidelines based on new evidence regarding safe practices, only middle and high school students within six feet of someone who tests positive or who is symptomatic at school, will have to be quarantined for 14-days. Middle and high school students will be assigned seats or placed in small groups in their classes when possible so we can track exposure and make quarantine decisions related to the 6-feet guidelines.

Girls' Basketball Update
Girls basketball season is TENTATIVELY set to start on January 25th. It will be a shortened season due to the current COVID and CHSAA requirements, and it will look different than years past. However, we are excited to finally see the girls back on the court.
If your student athlete would like to participate in open gym, you MUST sign up for open gym on THIS google form. If an athlete is NOT on this form, they cannot attend open gym. We are required to have no more than 12 athletes in an area/gym at a time. Please also make sure you are only signing up for days your student athlete is attending in-person learning at SMS.
If you have any questions, please contact the athletic director, Andrea Rolf, at andrea.rolf@weldre4.org.
Spring Sports Update
We are reaching out today to provide you with information regarding Windsor/Severance middle school athletic's schedule.
Following guidance released by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) and the State of Colorado, district staff members are developing plans regarding middle school athletic seasons during the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year. We will continue to work with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) as we pursue our goal of providing a safe and healthy way to conduct indoor sports for our students.
The following statement from CDPHE provides information about what is utilized to make determinations about high school athletics. The same guidance will be followed for our middle schools:
“At this time, we do not have enough information about what disease incidence and hospitalization capacity will look like in January, and therefore are unable to make a determination regarding indoor high school athletics in Season B. Season B high school sports would operate based on the restrictions in the level of the dial in the county in which the school resides. For counties in Level Red, this means no indoor group sports are authorized.”
Based on this statement, we are delaying the start of athletics until further notice. We are actively working on creating a calendar with the assumption that sports will go on, but are remaining flexible and responsive to the fact that some of these decisions are out of our control. When a new calendar is approved, it will be announced by your school team, whom you may also contact if you have any questions.
Thank you very much for your continued support,
Andrea Rolf, Athletic Director
