The Panther Post
January 2021 Edition
Principal's Corner
Welcome back Panthers!
I am delighted to have students back on campus and in virtual classrooms. We are off to a great start this semester.
A note to our students:
As you begin the second semester of the school year we ask that you take time to reflect daily on your goals and strive to do your very best each day. Feel confident that DMS administration, faculty, and staff are here to support and encourage you as you explore different opportunities and continue to grow as learners.
To our parents and community, it is essential that you continue to take an active role in our students' success. It is important that we maintain parent involvement as we begin the second semester of our school year.
Many THANKS to our DMS PTA. They have been a tremendous source of support this year as always! The Discovery Middle PTA is still looking for new members as they have NOT reached their membership goal for this school year. An individual membership is only $8. Please consider helping the DMS PTA by joining. Please follow this link to join:).

Spelling Bee
Congratulations to Neil Mehta, our 2021 Discovery Middle School Spelling Bee champion !
The purpose of the yearly spelling bee is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.
This year the students used a new online testing platform in order to determine the school winner who will go on to compete at the Madison County Bee.
FCA and First Priority
Virtual FCA and First Priority will meet on Tuesday nights virtually from 6:30-7 PM. The first meeting will take place on January 12. Anyone is welcome to join.
