It is my mission to instill a love for learning in my students so that my students develop a desire to become life-long learners. I am so excited to teach and learn with you and your baby this year! It's going to be a year full of learning and lots of adventures. I can't wait to see what the year has in store for us! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. It is so important to keep communication open between us. I would love to talk to you whenever you feel the need! I look forward to a great year together!

First Day of School Parent Information Meeting

Lubbock-Cooper Central Elementary Library

We will be having a meeting after arrival on Monday in the library. Please make arrangements to stay for a short time to discuss information about the school year. We will be open to questions for a few minutes regarding any concerns you may have for your child.

Good Morning

  • We ask that your child BRING THEIR BACKPACK EVERYDAY. Your child will be bringing home folder each day for discipline/communication.
  • School begins at 8:00am. If you need your child to come before this time, they will meet in the cafeteria to eat breakfast.
  • You may walk your child to the classroom at 8:00, but you must enter through the front doors ONLY.
  • If you bring your child after 8:10, you must sign in at the office to receive a pass to come to class. Please make every effort to be on time because we begin instruction immediately after announcements.

PE is held on a rotating schedule. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately to include sneakers on PE days. We also will be going to recess daily Recess will occur outside unless the temperature is below 40 degrees. Please send weather appropriate attire.

Day to Day Needs

~Please send your child in comfortable, casual clothes that allow them to self-dress. We enjoy painting, coloring, and using water and sand. This can get messy, and we would hate to ruin nice clothes.

~Each Friday we will send your child's blanket home for laundry. Please send it back each Monday so your child will be comfortable at nap time.

~Please send an extra set of clothes for your child to keep in the classroom because bathroom accidents DO happen when the children are busy playing or napping. Some children need a change of clothes after lunch because of spills. If your child brings soiled clothes home, send new ones as soon as possible.

Snack Time

Please send a snack daily that is healthy, quick, and not very messy. State Guidelines restrict us from providing your child a snack. You are very welcome to send a snack daily or in multitude. I will stick their extra snacks in their cubbies. Please do not send any refrigerated or microwaved items. Colored drinks like Gatorade or Kool-Aid are not allowed during snack time. If you wish to provide your child with a drink for snack, it must be water.

ABSENCES

  • Call when your child is going to be absent (Office: 806-776-2150)
  • If you know ahead of time that your child is going to be absent, please let your child's teacher know as soon as possible.
  • If you have a doctor's note, you can give it to Frances Gray in the front office or send it in your child's folder.

Special Friends

We have Blueberry the Bear that LOVES to visit the kids at home! Each child will get an entire weekend to spend time with him. You will hear about him soon!

If you or a family member would like to share about their job, hobby, or simply love to read stories to the students, let me know! We love to have special friends visit our classroom!

Background Checks

To volunteer to work with children, take field trips, participate in Watch Dogs, etc. you have to have a background check completed in the office beforehand.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays and welcome treats! Arrangements with the teacher must be made ahead of time. Please only send party invitations to school if you are inviting our whole class! All boy or all girl invitations are acceptable.
