Monthly Update

Oh, the weather outside is freezing!! As we approach winter and Christmas break, we are experiencing snow and cold weather! Please make sure your child is wearing weather appropriate shoes and clothing each day. Also, please make sure your child arrives at school with a coat and any other winter accessories they may need. If you need any assistance with winter clothing, please contact Mrs. Cole in the office.

Christmas Break

Christmas break will take place between December 20th-December 31st. We hope that you all enjoy time with your family and friends! Please make sure to continue reading with your child and complete any i-Ready lessons that you can.

We are so very thankful for our little community and school. We truly believe that we are blessed with the most amazing students and families and are lucky to serve our community. We deeply care for each one of our students and are eager to help support them on their way to educational success. Thank you for sharing your child with us and allowing us to make a difference in each one of their lives. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Snow Days

Snow, Snow, Snow!

If a snow day does present itself, we do our best to communicate this information with you as quickly as possible. Following the decision to close school for the day, the superintendent contacts local news stations to help inform our community. Each teacher is then notified through our school phone tree. Families of students who ride the bus will be notified by their bus driver. Students who either walk to school or get dropped off by a parent will be notified by their classroom teacher.

Thank you Melba Parents and Community!

Thank you ! Thank you! Thank you! We want to thank our amazing parents and community members. Our teachers and staff members were spoiled last week with delicious treats and goodies. We cannot tell you enough how much that meant to our school and how much we appreciate every one of you! Our school feels so loved and supported! Thank you so much!

PTA Fundraising

Wow! Thank you to all of those who participated in our Texas Roadhouse Rolls Fundraiser. We are going to have many families around here eating those tasty rolls and enjoying that delicious honey butter! We are so grateful for our community participation and the ability to bring some extra resources to help our school continue to be great! Here is some information on some up-coming PTA Events:

Candy Cane Grams

For the month of December, the PTA will be trading our monthly popcorn sale for a candy cane gram sale. Order forms were sent out with students on November 29th. They are due on December 6th. The candy cane grams will be delivered to students on December 9th.

Mustangs SHINE!

Last month we moved to the "I" in SHINE. The "I" stands for invest in yourself. Students focused on what investing in yourself means and what types of ways they can do this throughout the day. When students or classes were caught investing in themselves, they earned a star for their grade level. The winning grade level that had the most stars for November was third grade!! They earned themselves a hot cocoa party! Way to go!

November Mustangs of the Month

Each month, every teacher will be nominating a student that demonstrated the qualities of SHINE! Here are the students that were trying hard every day and investing in themselves for the month of November:

Kindergarten- Ryder S., Rivers T.

First Grade- Paisley Y., Nora G., Harlie D.
