Ontario Cycling calls all members to support Bill 40

Ontario has seen an alarming rise in road accidents involving drivers injuring or killing pedestrians, road workers and/or cyclists. The safety of vulnerable road users is an essential factor to preserve. This has prompted the call for more vital legislation to protect these individuals in recent years. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, MPP Joel Harden, alongside his fellow MPPs Jessica Bell, Doly Begum, and Bhutila Karpocha, are urging Ontario to pass Bill 40, The Moving Ontarians Safely Act, to address this critical issue.

Ontario Junior Track Athletes Capture Medals (and World Titles) Three Years in a Row

Ontario track athletes might be developing a reputation internationally after another successful Junior Track World Championship. This is the third year in a row where an Ontario athlete has captured a World Championship title, making it a total of five (5) rainbow jerseys and eight (8) total medals – nine (9) including the Men’s Team Pursuit which included three Ontario athletes.

2023 Super Worlds in Glasgow

On August 13th, the UCI Cycling World Championships (Super Worlds) came to a close, with some new and some returning names becoming etched in cycling history. The World Championship, held this year from August 3rd-13th in Glasgow and many other cities across Scotland, provided the opportunity for Canada to show off the many talented riders we have across the country, including Ontario riders and Ontario Cycling’s Ontario High–Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI) athletes.

Ontario Cycling welcomes new Commissaires in their officiating ranks

Rosa Phillip has taken a long journey over the past several months, marked by immense dedication and effort. Upon wrapping up her coaching education, she wanted to become even more involved in the sport she loved – setting her sights on becoming a commissaire as well. At the 2023 Road Provincial Championships, Rosa successfully achieved her Provincial Level C – Road Commissaire certification after completing all required courses and Technical Assistant sessions.

2023 OCup Cyclo-Cross season is ready to kick off

Attention all cyclo-cross enthusiasts! The much-awaited Ontario Cup (OCup) CX Series is back in action and is set to kick off on October 1st, 2023. This year, the OCup CX Series promises an even more exciting experience for riders and fans alike. Ontario Cycling has partnered with local clubs and venues to bring you four thrilling OCups and the Provincial Championships.

Cyclo-cross UCI License now available

With the Cyclo-cross season just around the corner, Ontario Cycling wants to remind those who are looking to race outside the province that it has a special Cyclo-cross ONLY UCI Race License available. This license is valid for use at sanctioned Cyclo-cross events outside the province of Ontario (including National Championships).

U17 - $93

If you already have an OC Associate Club Membership or Provincial Race License, you only need to pay the difference in cost to upgrade. Please ensure you are logged into your CCN Bikes account that is tied to your current 2023 membership as this is how the system recognizes what membership you already have when factoring in the upgraded membership cost.

New Course in Harrisburg, Ontario

We’re pleased to announce the Harrisburg Classic Road Race as a substitute for the Ontario Cup #2 Northumberland Classic Road Race 2023, which had to be cancelled due to poor air quality! Ideally situated in southwestern Ontario, the course is just over 15km in length, with 114 meters of climbing per lap will be hosted on September 17th, 2023. The roads themselves will have you thinking you’re riding through the European countryside as you twist and turn through Brant County. Intersections will be controlled by the Hamilton Police Service, and Odyssey Medical will supply medical coverage.

Applications are now open for the 2023-2024 Ontario Performance Program – Track DTE

The Ontario Performance Program – Track DTE, aims to enhance cycling performance as athletes navigate the transition from Junior through U23. In partnership with Cycling Canada, the Ontario Performance Program – Track DTE is based out of the Mattamy National Cycling Center in Milton, ON, and is open to identified athletes from all cycling sports.

Applications are now open for the 2023-2024 Ontario Track Academy

Ontario Cycling and the National Cycling Institute Milton will continue hosting a high-performance track program for identified athletes in the 2023-24 season. The Ontario Track Development Academy is designed to provide athletes an enhanced training environment involving quality coaching, on-track training, and sport science integration including prescribed in monitored strength and conditioning.

Developing a safe, welcoming, and productive culture is a complex issue. While clear policies and procedures are important, expressing organizational values and establishing expectations for the behaviour of athletes, coaches, officials, and supporters, culture is much more than written standards - it is how things are done.


Hosted by Ontario Cycling with Guest Speakers Will Russell and Kristin Noonan of Sport Law, Session 2 will provide tangible tips and resources for activating safe sport on the ground, focusing on what you can do to help ensure a positive and safe environment.

The Biking Lawyer - Pedestrian Signals & Cyclists

On June 28, 2023, the City of Mississauga confirmed “Head Start Signals” would now give pedestrians and cyclists a 5 second head start into crossing before the motor vehicle traffic light turns green. However, further down in the press release it appears as though cyclists will not be allowed to use the pedestrian “Head Start Signals” to safely enter an intersection before motor vehicles – only Bike Head Start Signals (where those are separately installed).

7 Days - Cycling for Survival

7 Days is an epic cycling event with participants riding 1,100 km to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research – and having a lot of fun in the process! Founded by Gord Townley and his family after the loss of his mother, Lorraine, this legacy fundraising event has driven a decade of incredible achievements. The total amount raised from the 2023 in-person and virtual rides exceeded a whopping $180,000, bringing the lifetime grand total to over $1.6 million.


“The camaraderie, the passion, the joy, the fundraising, the stories… all of those things happen at 7 Days.
