THE 2020-21 KANSAS HONOR SCHOLARS OF FORT SCOTT HIGH SCHOOL!

The Kansas Honor Scholars Program has been a KU tradition since 1971 and has honored more than 140,000 high school seniors—from all 105 Kansas counties and approximately 360 high schools—for ranking academically in the top 10 percent of their class. It is designed to promote academic excellence in secondary education, to reward high school seniors for their hard work and dedication, and to support our Kansas communities. #kansashonorscholar

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kansas Honor Scholars were recognized virtually this year. Each of the FSHS Kansas Honor Scholars received a letter of recognition, certificate and medallion. Here are the 14 Tiger Scholars from the Class of 2021:

Crazy Spring weather means many games, meets and matches will need to be rescheduled and, on occasion, cancelled. Keep checking the FSHS web (usd234.org for the FSHS link) and Facebook pages.

Fort Scott High School Qualifies Students to the National Tournament

FSHS Debate and Forensics team has been competing completely virtually all year. Over the last few weeks students have been working to qualify to Nationals through three district tournaments. The last leg of this tournament was April 16-17. The Talking Tigers have nine students who will be representing Fort Scott at Nationals in June.

Overall, Fort Scott placed 2nd in Congress sweeps and Speech Sweeps and 3rd in debate sweeps. Several students qualified for nationals in multiple events but are only allowed to compete in one.

Final exams will be administered the week of May 11-12 at Fort Scott HIgh School. Remote learners will be expected to be in attendance those two days, not only to take finals, but to check in laptops and other items checked out for the year. A schedule for those two days will be coming out soon, so be sure and check our social media platforms.

1) If your student needs to take medications during the school day, a form must be filled out and signed by the physician. Those forms may be obtained by contacting the nurse.

2) Your student must be up to date on immunizations prior to enrollment for next school year.

COME ONE, COME ALL!

The FSHS Thespians and Drama Department present their Annual Golden Thespie Awards and Original One-Act Plays on April 28 at 7 p.m. in the FSHS Auditorium. Each student involved is allowed to bring 3 audience members, but tickets must be reserved in advance online. The Original One-Acts are being written as part of the Drama class curriculum for 4th quarter and are directed by Advanced Drama students. Each student also serves in a technical role with lights, sound, or as a playwright in addition to having a role in their own one-act. The Golden Thespie Awards are voted on by students and include such awards as Actress and Actor of the Year and Most Involved.
