Inclement Weather Days

Earlier this week the district emailed information to parents regarding the plan for inclement weather. Please take a minute to review the document and be familiar with the schedule changes when we move to a Flexible Instruction Day and the buildings are closed.

Please view this document to learn more about our inclement weather protocols:

Middle School – Inclement Weather Days Protocol

When the chance for severe or inclement weather looms, we will only post the cancellation of school, athletic events, and other activities.

If school is canceled or a Flexible Learning Day is called due to inclement weather, the information will be available in the following formats:

  • Posted on our website found HERE.

  • Posted to social media

  • Local television stations (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC)* Please know we are at the mercy of these stations as to whether or not they relay the information. There have been instances of when the district has provided information and the news station did not get it posted.

Attention 5th Grade Parents!

School pictures were sent home with your student! If you would like to order additional pictures, please follow the instructions provided by Strawbridge.

Treats for Celebrations

Just a gentle reminder to parents: if you are planning to provide treats to be handed out in class for a special celebration, such as a birthday, they need to be individually sealed/wrapped. An example would be Rice Crispy Treats that were factory sealed.

Her is another GREAT option for you as well:

In addition to providing breakfast and lunch, did you know USD 231 Nutrition Services also cater birthday treats directly to the 5th grade classrooms? Hassle-free, safe and affordable options to celebrate your student’s special day.

Please allow one-week notice for events.

Reminder From Nutrition Services

Just a reminder... Although school meals are free for the 2020-2021 school year, students are still welcome to bring a lunch from home as they desire. Please note that although these students will still be permitted to purchase milk or juice ($0.55 each) to accompany their lunch from home, these individual items are not covered by the program. Only complete meals are available for free. Weekly balance reminders are sent to families whose students' account balances fall below zero due to these types of purchases.

Document Cameras Still Available

Attention 6th-8th Grade Forced Remote Students:

The district has made available document cameras for all forced remote students until you return to in person learning at WMS.

Pick Up Procedure:

  • Since the pick up day has passed, please come to the WMS Main Office, ring the buzzer and let us know your student's name and grade. We will bring the camera to you at the door.

Students will turn document cameras back in to the district once we return to in person learning.

Click HERE for instructions on setting up your document camera.

Calling All Library Books!

Please have your student check their library account to see if they still have books checked out from last school year. Several overdue notices have been emailed to students and guardians since August. We will be marking these books as lost if they have not been turned in by November 24th. Books can be returned to the front office during any school day. Please contact Ms. Hawkins if you have any questions.
