The Epsilonian
Extraordinary EO News (Fall Edition)
Message from the President
Time Flies! I don’t know about you but I cannot believe that the end of 2021 is drawing near.
The Epsilon Omicron Chapter, affectionately known as EO, prides itself on carrying out the legacy of our founder, Mrs. Lola Mercedes Parker by thinking outside of the box. Epsilon Omicron is built on a solid foundation and consists of a group of like-minded women who represent Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. well, while uplifting their communities. As a chapter, we have focused on improving and the new year is a perfect opportunity for us to continue to do so.
The existence and success of the sorority has been and continues to be a result of dedication, tradition, pride and enthusiasm. Let us all continue to work together in service and strive to lead our chapter from “Every Day” to “Extraordinary In Excellence”.
In Sisterhood and Service,
Kiauna Talley
2021 - 2022 President
Epsilon Omicron Chapter
Message from the Vice-President
I recently read a story on my social media about three honey bees that had been trapped in a bucket of honey that had been extracted from their hive. Reluctantly, the beekeeper removed the three bees and placed them in a separate container with the expectation that the bees would not survive. However, the beekeeper underestimated the power of sisters. When the beekeeper returned to check on the three trapped bees, he was amazed to see how the other sister bees swarmed the sticky bees to help clean and free them. The takeaway from the story is that we could all learn to bee peers, bee teammates, bee sisters.
As we prepare to start the year and take care of the business of the sorority, we should remember that we are a sisterhood. The COVID-19 pandemic has helped many of us to recognize the necessity of human connection. Even though we have been able to connect virtually with our sisters all over the country, it does not replace the physical warmth of a hug. It is important that we are kind to each other, we support each other and we take care of each other. This last year and a half has been hard for so many people, and the distance has made communication of life events and emotional well-being more challenging. I encourage all of us to remember the power of sisterhood. Let's remember to check in on one another, to offer each other a thoughtful word and to extend grace to each other.
