Important Library Information
As we quickly approach the end of the school year, we wanted to pass on some important information regarding library books. Beginning Monday, May 2nd, if students have overdue books, they will not be able to check out more books until they return their overdue books. If your child has an overdue book please make sure they return it as soon as possible. In many cases there are waiting lists for books and if one of those books isn't returned, several children miss out on the opportunity to read that book. If your child has lost a book please pay the lost book fee as soon as possible.
- The last day for checking out books is Friday, May 20th.
- All student books are due by Friday, May 27th.
Thank you for taking an active role in your child's reading and teaching them responsibility by returning their books by their due date.
Box Tops Competition Results Coming Soon!
Friday, April 29th, concluded our collection of Box Tops by classroom. They will be quickly counted and a winning class will be announced next week! The winning classroom will have the opportunity to select a staff member of their choice to receive a pie in the face!
A big thank you to students, parents, grandparents and everyone who cut out and saved Box Tops for Central! Each box top is worth ten cents. All those Box Tops add up and give our school additional resources to help defray the cost of field trips and other student expenses.
We Need Gently Used Pants, Shorts and Leggings!
Students + Mud = A change of clothes.
We have given away the majority of our spare clothing to students who needed a change of clothing for one reason or another. If you happen to have some of this clothing, please wash it and return it to the nurse. If you are spring cleaning and have any gently used pants and shorts, please consider donating them to Central. We could really use the following sizes in order of necessity:
- Elastic Waist Pants and Shorts/Boys: Sizes: 8. 10, 12, 14
- Elastic Waist Pants, Shorts and/or Leggings/Girls: Sizes 6, 8, 10,
We do not need any jeans or shirts. However, we could also use both boys and girls underwear and socks. These items would need to be new. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
K-Kids Book Swap Success
Recently we finished up our first book swap and it was a huge success! The students really enjoyed it! It was wonderful to watch the excited students select books they haven't read and share with one another. Two different but equally important lessons were learned. Donating and sharing. Thank you for taking this opportunity to promote reading with our students!
UPDATE: Field Day on Thursday, June 2nd
Take note! Field Day has been moved to Thursday, June 2nd. We are still looking for a few volunteers and would love your help! Volunteering for Field Day is a great time for parents to see the kids let loose and really enjoy themselves amongst their peers. As a bonus, volunteers receive a free lunch! A big thanks to those who have already graciously volunteered! You can sign up for field day using this link:
If you are willing to help out, please be sure you have a background check on file before signing up to assist. The background check forms are available using this link: http://www.valpo.k12.in.us/cms/lib4/IN01001455/Centricity/Domain/272/Backround%20Check%20Form%201516.pdf
Also, each class has a different color for field day. This makes it very easy for staff to keep track of the student and the kids love the camaraderie! Below is a list of classrooms and their colors for this year. Please don't feel obligated to purchase a shirt the color of your child's class if you don't have one. We just wanted to give you the colors in an ample amount of time should you choose to purchase one. Michael's craft store and Hobby Lobby have plain colored T-shirts for a nominal price.
