2022 year book
A big thank you to Jemma Dickson who has put together this year's Yearbook for us. She has spent many hours taking and collating photos and putting them together. The draft of the Year book can be viewed at the office and orders are being taken now. Books are $20 and will be able to be picked up before the end of the year. Great Christmas present idea for extended whānau or for the children themselves. Go to Kindo to order a 2022 Yearbook.
Car park and crossing
We are just waiting for the gardens to be completed and the painted parking spots to be painted on the side closest to the road and then the front will be done! We are hoping to install more permanent bollards or similar on the side of the crossing so that the wardens can step out to see if cars are coming. Please be careful driving through this area, especially as it is changing regularly.
Unpaid accounts
Please check Kindo to see whether you owe money for any events your child has attended. We also appreciate any whanau who can pay the Voluntary Donation. We do not get funding for library books, playgrounds, play equipment. These things are provided through fundraising or parent donations. I know it is very financially difficult for many people at the moment. We really appreciate any amount of this donation that you can afford so that we can continue to provide the environment and opportunities that are best for your children’s learning.
Hats
A reminder that it is compulsory for all tamariki to be wearing a hat when outside. Please ensure that your child has their hat with them at all times and that they have put sunscreen on in the morning.
PB4L
This week’s focus continues to be on problem solving. The key ideas we will be working on are
I can be proactive in using problem solving skills
I think about how others might feel/react, before I act
I use kind and respectful words to talk about how I am feeling
I follow classroom and school expectations for solving problems
I listen respectfully to the opinions of others, even if when they differ from my own
Have a great week everyone!

Sport Notices
Fun Athletics and WHANAU DAY Monday 5th December 9am - 1pm
Children can come to school dressed in their whanau colours.
Starting at 9am, they will rotate through 14 different fun activities during the morning (some of which will involve water, so it may be a good idea to pack a change of clothes)
This is followed by a lunch time disco.
Families are invited to come along and join in the fun and bring a picnic lunch to share with your whanau.
Parents are welcome to take their children home with them after lunch provided they let their guardian teacher know or sign out at the office.
Sports News
Our Golden Sands Year 3/4 Boys Touch Rugby team took part in a Tournament last Friday at Gordon Spratt Reserve and were winners of their grade. Marley Taylor also received the Player of the Day for his grade.
Fantastic effort boys! We are very proud of you all!
Many thanks to the parents that were able to take them.
Library Helpers Needed Please
The learning centre will be closing to students this Friday 25th November. Please can you help your child/ren to have all library books and readers returned by this date. It would also be appreciated if you could check at home for any extra books or readers and send them back as well. We don't mind if you have had them for ages - we would just like them back!
Library Stocktake Helpers
We are just starting our end of year stocktake and need some helpers! This involves scanning the library barcodes on the back of our readers and books, tidying shelves etc. If you are able to help with this, or have any questions, please contact Lynley Gillanders lgillanders@goldensands.school.nz Any help would be very much appreciated.
