The Mayans, Incas, and the Aztecs
Let us join the society
The Mayans
The Mayans are the first on the list. They are from central america. Mayan society has slash and burn farming and a number system based on the number 20. They have murals on the wall of noble houses for art. There written language is very complex, because they use glyphs and made codex (book) or codices (books). Their cities and government were set up like Polytheistic--more than 160 gods and goddesses, offered sacrifices, held ceremonies and festivals, ball games, and believed in unhappy afterlife. Two inventions that they made were the 365 day calender we use today, and a number system. Farming was great, they grow corn and cocoa. They used floating beds made of reeds and mud.
The Incas
The Incas are the next to talk about. They are located in South America and the central Andes Mountain range. Inca society has the mathematical tool quipu and built roads for bartering. They have no art that we know of. Their communication was difficult because they had knots on string. Their government i set up like a dictatorship because the leader tells who is who. Two inventions that they used to change their life is blood transfusions and surgeries and suspension bridges. Farming for the Incas was easy because they took the mountain and made terraces (flat spots on the mountain) and farmed on those.
The Aztecs
The Aztec are the last to talk about. They are located in central Mexico. They are great architects because they think each building should show off its makers craftsmanship. They are also great builders because they would build impressive arches. Their are was like huge antique structures. They collected writings called glyphs into books called codices. Their cities were set up like living in large families and groups. Two inventions that helped their society are advanced in astronomy and advances in their own calender. The farming was for the men and the women took care of the family.
