Super Sports Day 2021
sports day 2021
A big thank you to Miss Haslam for putting the Sports Day together.
One final aspect of Sports Day that was different was the absence of parents and carers, so we have made some short films of each sports day session so that you can see how much the children enjoyed the day. Links below!

Stars of the Week
At our Celebration Worship every Friday, we really enjoy 'zooming' around the classes to hear about the fabulous work and effort of our stars of the week.
Reception
Josefina for the wonderful effort she has put into her written work. She should feel very proud of the progress she has made.
Skyler for the compassion she shows everyone at all times.
Year 1
Jeffrey for demonstrating a mature and positive attitude to his learning and being a great role model to his peers
Year 2
Esme for being a fantastic friend to all and challenging herself with her writing. You are a star Esme.
Year 3
Jasper for settling into the class brilliantly and for working super hard in all subjects.
Year 4
Lucas for always putting effort into everything that he does. He fully understands that growth and learning requires effort.
Year 5
Jack for writing a fabulous poem using abstract nouns.
Year 6
Freddie for his reflection skills in his assessments. Freddie checked his answers carefully and improved them. Well done.
Well done to all our stars!

School Update
Dear Parents and Carers
We had a super sports day and next week (Arts Week) promises to be another full week of exciting activities.
Covid Symptoms
There has been a significant rise in the number of cases within the local area with at least 11 reported cases of COVID in our part of the city. A number of schools across our district have been impacted with bubbles having to be sent home to isolate. Please can we remind all parents and carers that if your child has any symptoms that you access a PCR test and do not send your child into school until the outcome of the test is known. We do recommend that you use a test centre as the results are obtained significantly faster than using postal PCR tests. If you are unsure about whether your child requires a PCR test please do call NHS 111 to seek medical advice.
Scooters and Bikes
There are a number of children who use scooters and bikes on their travels to and from school. Please can we remind all parents and carers that for health and safety reasons scooters and bikes should not be ridden on the playground.
Thank you for your continued support
Kind regards
Steven Holmes

Raising funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance - 29th June 2021
As part of the school’s work on compassion, the Spiritual Council and Ambassadors have decided that we would like to raise funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, an independent charity that relies on the generosity of individuals and organisations.
The Air Ambulance Service provides a life-saving rapid response emergency service in Yorkshire to 5 million people across 4 million acres and operates 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
To support this wonderful organisation, we would like to have a sponsored run on Tuesday 29th June 2021, with children sponsored for the number of laps that they complete of our school track in a 10 minute time frame! You can get sponsors from family and friends (using the form sent home today) for how many laps you will complete. Parents can collect the cash and make a donation via ParentPay. We hope this will be a great way that the children of Cathedral School can support our community.
Arts Week - Week beginning 28th June 2021
School Menu Changes 7th and 8th July
Due to having to place a different food order to usual, it would be easier for the catering team to know in advance if usual school meal takers intend to change from having a school meal on this day. Please would you email admin@riponcathedral.n-yorks.sch.uk if your child usually has a school meal on Thursdays but will not be doing so on Thursday 8th July. Thank you.
The main meal will also change on Wednesday 7th July. As there will be ham in the sandwiches, chicken tikka masala will be served on Wednesday in place of roast gammon.
Summer School Production 5th - 9th July Filming week / 12th July Red day
All the classes have been working hard on their parts for our epic end of year film, Movie Mayhem!
We will be filming the children across the school in the week beginning 5th July. Thank you very much to parents and carers for returning the permission slips.
On 12th July, we will be filming the movie's final musical number which will feature all children in the school. On this day we would like all children to come to school in something red! This could be a t-shirt, top, scarf, etc. It could be a top that features red! Children can wear their normal school trousers, etc.
Thank you for all your support we are all really looking forward to sharing our special movie with you soon.
Oscar's Club
The children are loving Oscar's being back in its usual room again. It's great that they can get out into their own yard and play outside so much of the session. We have seen numbers gradually increasing at the club this half term. Please remember to book as far in advance as you are able. We are always happy to accept last minute bookings, spare places permitting, but would hate for anyone to be disappointed if the session limit has already been reached.
After school the club runs until 4.30pm at a cost of £8 or until 5.45pm which is £12. Siblings get a 10% discount. Breakfast club continues to run from 8am. Please use the link below to make your booking.
For the summer holidays, we are very close to confirming that we will hold the club on Tuesday to Thursday in both the first and last week of the summer break.
Please contact Mrs Rich in the office if you have any questions or experience issues logging on.
